6 Things NOT to do while writing a Hub
62Ok, so you have a hub. You enjoy writing a couple of articles a day while listening to your favorite album of downtempo music as you drink a refreshing cup of coffee in your studio. Every now and then you look out your window to enjoy the calm and relaxing autumn rain while you wait for inspiration.
Everything runs smoothly and it’s all fun and games until your scarf prop (you know, to get in character) entangles in that old jet engine you use to cool off your computer; bringing your writing career and life to an untimely and painful death.
That is why I’ve decided to compile the 6 most common activities that bring doom upon you and your loved ones if you attempt to do them while writing a hub. So, never write while you:
6. Time Travel
Messing with the time-space continuum while writing is never a good idea. We all like to receive some ideas from the future or inspire ourselves by visiting 18th century France, but believe me, editing your post will be the least of your concerns when you come back to the present only to realize that computers have taken over the Earth and you are the only survivor of a rebel alliance against the machines.
5. Feed your Tiger
Always feed your tiger BEFORE attempting to write a hub. Otherwise you will be distracted and unfocused while feeding him, which could cause the tiger to:
· Eat your hand
· Eat your computer
· Write your hub
· Eat your baby tigers
· Call the Humane Society on you
4. Juggle Grenades
This is a no NO. We all have as much fun as the next guy while juggling grenades, but unless you’re a professional grenade juggler; never try to do it with more than two grenades. However you can try to do it with two grenades and an onion, or one grenade, an anti-personal land mine and a cupcake.
3. Do the finishing touches on your Nuclear Fusion paper
This is mainly a suggestion. Writing academic papers at the same time than writing you hub may sound reasonable enough, but unless both deal with nuclear power, try to stay away from this habit. If you don’t, more often than not you will find yourself mixing both the hub and the paper resulting in awkwardly funny results. And it will hurt your hub traffic as well; we all know how boring nuclear fusion can be.
2. Try to learn Spanish from an audio cassette
Learning a second language is learning a powerful and useful tool; attempting to do it while writing a hub is MADNESS. Because when you least expect it, you will find yourself mixing both languages together, y todos sabemos que aún no muchas personas dominan el español. And even when words like sombrero, taco and burrito may be general knowledge, otras palabras más divertidas como pinole, pachuco y abuelita may leave your hub readers dazed and confused.
1. Assist a Job Interview
That’s right. Even though we all know our hub experience may come in handy while applying to a job, you know how touchy those human resources people can get. I can comfortably write while answering all those hard edged questions they throw at me. But for one reason or another, they find it disrespectful. And meeting an angry HR person is like meeting the devil himself. Not recommended.
There you have it folks. If you avoid these kind of activities while you write your Hub, you are on the right track to a long life of useful and insightful hub publications. If you feel that I have missed something in this countdown, be sure to comment or e-mail me with your thoughtful recommendations.

Thanks :)
Hella funny. I couldn't help but hear Carlos Mencia's voice while reading this. And I don't even like him. But the voice fit for some reason, especially en espanol. Loved the tiger reference. I'll be damned if I let a tiger write MY hub! Maybe my comments though, if he's nice.
Bien hecho...oops, I mean nice job :)
Thanks for the comments.
I'm not a fan of Carlos Mencia either, but you never know when that voice is going to come back and haunt you in your hubs.
