Some genital warts treatments can be safely and effectively self administered at home without the need of seeking out the help of a specialized dermatologist. These are mainly the topical treatments that can be applied to the surface of the skin and that include several creams and gels and also some natural herbal extracts and essential oils. In this article you will learn about six of them. Here they are:

1- The first treatment consists on using a medicine called Imiquimod and marketed under the name of Aldara. When applied to the genital warts, Imiquimod (aldara) triggers a response from the immune system against the tissues of the warts to kill them.

2- The second treatment consists on using Efudex which is the generic name for fluorouracil. This medicine is also used in the treatment of certain cases of skin cancer. Efudex acts by preventing the multiplication of warts' cells by preventing the formation of their DNA.

3- You can also treat genital warts using a natural medicine like Wartrol.

Wartrol is a homeopathic medicine, which means that it acts by triggereing a strong response of the immune system against the tissues of the warts to dissolve them.

The advantage of Wartrol over other natural treatments for genital warts is that, since it is taken orally, it can also act on invisible and internal genital warts that can't be treated by other creams and natural remedies. Click here to learn more about Wartrol!

4- Apple cider vinegar (ACV) it yet another natural treatment for genital warts that can be self administered. To use apple cider vinegar on genital warts, you just have to soak a cotton ball in it and then apply it to your warts. Then leave the cotton ball taped in using a band aid during the night.

5- The other natural remedy for curing genital warts is Tea Tree Oil. This essential oil is extracted from a plant called Melaleuca Alternifolia. This plant has been used for long centuries by aboriginal Australians to cure many skin diseases. If you want to use tea tree oil on genital warts you just put a few drops of it on a compress then tape it on the infected area at bed time. Keep it taped on until the next morning.

6- Castor oil is one of those natural cures for genital warts that a lot of people have used very successfully. This is an essential oil that is extracted from a plant called Ricinus Communis. Castor oil has a bad smell and that's why you may want to use it along with peppermint oil or lemon oil to cover its bad scent. The method for using Castor oil on genital warts is similar to the way of using tea tree oil.

The last thing I'd like to add here is that, if you want to use any of the above treatments, then you'll have to be patient and consistent. Because in most cases, several weeks are needed to completely clear genital warts.

 Good luck.
