The Top Five 7-Inch TV's

The following five 7 inch portable TV's are all a lot more alike than they are different versus each other, whether it be in price or in picture quality (and obviously in size). That said, you will find them ranked in order of best to worst, because of relatively slight differences.

Below, you will find the top 5 ratings; reviewed in order of best to worst.

  1. Haier HLT71
  2. Axion AX7-870
  3. Eviant T7
  4. Viore PLC7V95
  5. CTA TV-P7

Haier HLT71

The Haier HLT71 stands out amongst the current 7-inch class of portable televisions. It offers video options such as switching between 16:9 and 4:3 screen ratios. Consumers have rated it as having a better quality high-def picture overall.

Its battery has an abnormally long life: at least two hours. The remote control has a volume control, unlike the Axion we profile here. A small thing which may matter to some, though if you're too far away from any of these TVs you simply aren't going to be able to see the screen, so...

Overall, the Haier stands out amongst its competitors for a beautiful in-screen high definition video, options and settings, battery life, and basically doing everything important the best.

Axion AXN-8701 7-Inch Widescreen Portable Handheld TV with Built-In Tuner (Black)

Axion AXN-8701

Our 2nd place finisher, this is a tight little 7-inch "widescreen" portable TV. It comes with a little stand so that you can prop it up (see picture to right). Also comes with an AC adapter and a cigarette lighter charger.

The AXN-8701 gives a very nice LCD color, contrast, and resolution. And once you have it autotuned, it is very sensitive in its channel reception. It does not "mix" channels. Some have even reported that they can get more channels than they get on cable.

Gives decent sound for having 1-inch speakers. None of these 7 inch portables have really mastered the sound aspect yet. Audio can only be so good coming out of such tiny speakers vs. bigger ones, I suppose.

Eviant T7 7-Inch Portable LCD TV, Red

Eviant T7

As you can see, there is both a red and a black version of this portable TV.

With this little mama you get a width to height ratio of 16:9. The thing weighs all of 1.5 pounds. And it comes with two antennas. So if the little black one is not picking up enough channels, you should have better luck with the bigger silver antenna.

Also comes with a six button remote control, and has a 480 x 234 crispy clean Liquid Crystal Display.

By the way, it's Eviant, not Evian!

Viore PLC7V95 7-Inch Portable LCD TV with Built-in Tuner
Viore PLC7V95 7-Inch Portable LCD TV with Built-in Tuner

Viore PLC7V95

This Viore is an all right contribution to the fold, although I would rank it below the others.

Pros include a program guide that tells you the past few and the upcoming TV shows on whatever station you're watching. It has a "kickstand". And it has USB and SD slots which can play mp3's, movies and display pictures.

The battery on this Viore only lasts about an hour-and-a-half. And although it is not an HDTV, it will play DH channels.

The other positive to this slightly sub-par portable review is that (at least currently) it's going for a bit less than the others in its class. Still, I would go with the Haier or the Axion.

CTA Digital TV-P7 7-Inch Portable LCD TV

CTA Digital TV-P7

Here's another that I wouldn't quite recommend over the first three (above). First of all, the CTA is (currently) about 15% more expensive than the other 7-inch portable TV's that made the Top 5. And second of all, it's battery lasts on the lower end of the spectrum.

It does come with the standard remote control and stand. It is white, as you can see. Like the Viore, it takes a variety of inputs such as SD, MMC, MMS. Nevertheless, until I know more aout this one, I am still going to point you back to the Haier as my first choice: it's the tried and the true.

I know, they're great. A lot of people use them in their kitchen. Or they bing them outside. (Or even in their bathroom!) Or as a computer-side TV...

Obviously they're a lot more versatile than normal TVs.

Thanks for stopping by my rating page, Alex.
