7 Secrets To Creating A Huge Demand In Any Economy

People buy in every type of economy. What changes is what they perceive is important, and what they are willing to spend money on.

If a family begins spending more money on one item, they'll cut back in another area. But they will still spend. It's human nature.

Growing your own business in any economy is possible, if you understand how to market your product.

1. Give them what they want, not what they need.

I may need a new car, but what I really want is that cute little Audi TT Roadster. It may cost a little bit more than I wanted to spend. But I work hard, and I really deserve the can I want.

That's justification.

The need starts out basic. It can be filled in many different ways. But what causes up to buy is what we truly want. If I don't think a cheap used car will fulfill my needs, I'll build in all the justification I need to make sure my need is fulfilled with my desires.

The key to your marketing is to make them see that your products and services fulfill their needs on a very personal level.

2. Don't sell.

People hate being sold to. In fact we're going out of our way more than ever to not be sold to. We have systems set up to avoid commercials on television, our satellite radio stations are commercial free, we put ourselves on do not call lists, and we eliimate junk mail whenever possible.

We're tired of being over-sold to.

Instead we like finding our own passions.

3. Build your desire.

Good marketing is all about building the desire for what you do, and sharing that with your greatest prospects.

People come to you because a friend told them about you. Or they read about you in a dozen different places online. Or they've seen your truck outside of five different neighbor's homes.

They have a desire to use the best. Your job is to build up your expertise, and let them see that you are the best.

4. Make a new friend.

In this busy world, it's nice to slow down even for just a minute and have a nice conversation. And if you can do business while chatting about the kids, or sharing a story about your life, all the better.

One of the reasons networking groups work so well is you build up a relationship with a person, and can refer them easily to the people you know. It works the same way online. If I find people with common interests and goals, it's easy for me to refer them and to work with them.

5. Reach out in different ways.

I love email and use it every single day. I have a friend who prefers IM and rarely checks her email. I have another friend that loves chatting on the phone, and calls regularly to set up meetings.

There's no right or wrong way to reach out to someone. What one person hates, another loves. But if you only reach out in one way, you will miss dozens of other opportunities.

As a business owner it's important to try several different methods of marketing. Mail a postcard. Start a Facebook account. Send an ezine.

And do them all regularly.

6. Stick with it.

What form of marketing are you doing today that you were also doing a year ago? If you can give several examples from your own business, congratulations. If not, maybe its time to evaluate your strategy.

Strategies work because they are used regularly. They are reliable. They are always there as friendly reminders. If you start something new every month, people won't understand what you do. They won't expect anything. And they soon will forget about you.

7. Give them something appropriate.

Even though your products and services may stay the same during good times and bad, you should still change the way you market them to your clients. A client who may splurge when times are good, may be looking for a good deal when times are tough.

By changing your approach, you can sell the same, just in a different way.

In the end its all about great customer service. Give your all to your clients, and they will take care of you through it all.
