70s Songs - 1977 Most Popular Songs

70s songs started to change in the latter half of the 70s. The popularity of disco was apparent in 1977. Most of the top ten songs from 1977 were disco songs. Quite a few of the top ten songs in 1977 were also one hit wonders.

I'm Your Boogie Man K.C. & the Sunshine Band

KC and the Sunshine Band was a hugely popular group in the 70s. Their style was a combination of funk and disco. They had several hit songs.

Unfortunately, Thelma Houston was never able to score another big hit. VH1 rates the song as #87 on the list of 100 Greatest One Hit Wonders.

I Like Dreamin' Kenny Nolan

Although I Like Dreamin' is the one of the only big song hits that Kenny Nolan sang, he had other musical accomplishments. He was the co-writer for huge hit songs such as My Eyes Adored You and Lady Marmalade. He also produced many song hits.

Nolan was somewhat of a musical genius. He got a scholarship to USC at the age of 13 for musical composition. Kenny got bored and dropped out.

Evergreen was co-written by Barbra Streisand and Paul Williams. It was the love theme for the 1976 film remake, A Star Is Born. A Star Is Born starred Barbra Streisand herself and Kris Kristofferson. Evergreen won the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
