These are research figures from General Motors - the world's largest car company

 
  • There are 6.68 billion people on the planet
  • Only 13 per cent (about 875 million) of the population own a car
  • By 2020 the population will have risen to 7.5 billion
  • By 2020 about 1 billion (or 15 per cent) will have a car
  • Around 35 per cent of world energy is derived from oil
  • Oil is used for 95 per cent of transport needs.
  • By 2030 energy needs will have increased by 60 per cent
 
Are we doing too little, too late?

Is energy Armageddon inevitable?

They are scary numbers, aren't they?
