In no particular order, here are some songs to take you back to the good times that were the 80's. Stay tuned for more I love The 80's.
Always Something There To Remind Me
Alway Something There To Remind Me-Naked Eyes
Naked Eyes remake of "Always Something There To Remind Me" off 1983's debut album "Burning Bridges" was the 80's at its best. I would watch MTV all day to catch this video. For many of us in the 80's this song holds a special place in our memory. Isn't there always something there to remind us?
I walk along the city street you used to walk along with me And every step I take reminds me of just how we used to be Well, how can I forget you, girl When there is always something there to remind me Always something there to remind me As shadows fall, I pass the small cafe where we would dance at night And I can't help recalling how it felt to kiss and hold you tight Well, how can I forget you, girl When there is always something there to remind me Always something there to remind me I was born to love her, and I will never be free You'll always be a part of me If you should find you miss the sweet and tender love we used to share Just come back to the places where we used to go, and I'll be there Well, how can I forget you girl When there is always something there to remind me Always something there to remind me I was born to love her, and I will never be free You'll always be a part of me 'Cause there is always something there to remind me Always something there to remind me Always something there to remind me Always something there to remind me Always something there to remind me....
Don't You Want Me
Human League-Don't You Want Me
"Don't You Want Me" by Human League. This song was released in 1981 on the album "Dare" and immediately became a top hit going to #1 and ranking as the sixth biggest hit in the US in 1982. This song helped usher in the 80s for me and brings back a flood of memories.
LYRICS:
DONT YOU WANT ME (Dare,Human League-1981) You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar When I met you I picked you out, I shook you up, and turned you around Turned you into someone new Now five years later on you've got the world at your feet Success has been so easy for you But don't forget it's me who put you where you are now And I can put you back down too Chorus: Don't, don't you want me? You know I can't believe it when I hear that you won't see me Don't, don't you want me? You know I don't believe you when you say that you don't need me It's much too late to find You think you've changed your mind You'd better change it back or we will both be sorry Don't you want me baby? Don't you want me oh Don't you want me baby? Don't you want me oh I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar That much is true But even then I knew I'd find a much better place Either with or without you The five years we have had have been such good times I still love you But now I think it's time I lived my life on my own I guess it's just what I must do Chorus: Don't you want me baby? Don't you want me oh Don't you want me baby? Don't you want me oh (Repeat four times and fade)
You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)
Dead Or Alive-You Spin Me Right Round
Released on 1985's Youthquake album, "You Spin Me Right Round" by Dead Or Alive was #1 in Europe and a huge hit in the US. Fronted by the outrageous Pete Burns Dead Or Alive's "You Spin Me Right Round" still gets me and the clubs hopping.
If I, I get to know your name Well if I, could trace your private number, baby All I know is that to me You look like you're lots of fun Open up your loving arms I want some, want some I set my sights on you (and no one else will do) And I, I've got to have my way now, baby All I know is that to me You look like you're having fun Open up your loving arms Watch out here I come You spin me right round, baby Right round like a record, baby Right round round round You spin me right round, baby Right round like a record, baby Right round round round I, I got to be your friend now, baby And I, I would like to move in a little bit closer All I know is that to me You look like you're lots of fun Open up your loving arms Watch out here I come You spin me right round, baby Right round like a record, baby Right round round round You spin me right round, baby Right round like a record, baby Right round round round I want your love I want your love [Repeat Chorus]
Too Shy
Too Shy-Kajagoogoo
"Too Shy" by British Pop Band Kajagoo was released in 1983 on the album White Feather. Led by the incomparable lead singer Limahl (fired in mid '83) and his sweet voice and cool hair, Kajagoogoo was a staple on MTV and the clubs (definately the Hillsdale Roller RInk) throughout the 80's.
Tongue-tied, (I'm) short of breath, don't even try Try a little harder Somethings wrong, you're not naive, you must be strong Ooh baby try Hey girl, move a little closer You're Too shy shy Hush hush, eye to eye Too shy shy Hush hush, eye to eye Too shy shy Hush hush, eye to eye Too shy shy Hush hush Modern medicine falls short of your complaints Ooh, try a little harder You're moving in circles, won't you dilate Baby try Hey girl, move a little closer 'Cause, you're Too shy shy Hush hush, eye to eye Too shy shy Hush hush, eye to eye Too shy shy Hush hush, eye to eye
I Ran (So Far Away)
I Ran-A Flock Of Seagulls
Formed in Liverpool in 1979 A Flock Of Seagulls didn't hit it big until the 1982 release of "I Ran" on the aptly named A Flock Of Seagulls Album. A top ten hit in the US, this single and the video had many 80's teens in awe of the music and most definately the hair. Who could forget the hair.
I walked along the avenue I never thought I'd meet a girl like you meet a girl like you With auburn hair and tawny eyes The kind of eyes that hypnotize me through Hypnotize me through And I ran, I ran so far away I just ran, I ran all night and day I couldn't get away A cloud appears above your head A beam of light comes shining down on you Shining down on you The cloud is moving nearer still Aurora Borealis comes in view Aurora comes in view And I ran, I ran so far away I just ran, I ran all night and day I couldn't get away Reached out a hand to touch your face You're slowly disappearing from my view Disappearing from my view Reached out a hand to try again I'm floating in a beam of light with you A beam of light with you And I ran, I ran so far away I just ran, I ran all night and day And I ran, I ran so far away I just ran I couldn't get away...
