9 Ways to Conceive Twins
88You Really Can Help Make it Happen!
Trying to conceive twins? When couples start out on their trying to conceive journey, many would jump at the chance to have twins. In order to conceive twins there are several things you can do to increase your odds. Although some of them are totally out of your control, some are not.
Twins
Ways to Conceive Twins: Out of your control
1.) Heredity – If twins run in your family your odds will increase. However the only type of twin that is hereditary are fraternal (dizygotic twins), and even then the gene is not always passed down. If the woman’s mother or maternal grandmother had or was fraternal twins, your odds do increase for having hyperovulation (releasing more then one egg per cycle).
2.) Age – Older mothers have an increased chance of having twins. 17% of women over the age of 45 have twins/multiples.

Things you can control (sort of)
3.)Gain weight – Although gaining weight for the sake of gaining weight isn’t healthy, it does increase your odds when trying to conceive twins. If you have a BMI of 30 or higher, you are at an advantage, because you are much more likely to get blessed twice in one shot, then a skinny woman. Women who are tall are also more likely to have twins.
4.)Have twins – Having had twins before makes you 4 times more likely to have multiples again then a woman who has never had twins.
5.)Eat yams and diary – there has been research done to determine that the skin of yams produces a chemical that is thought to make a woman hyperovulate (release more than one egg). There is a tribe in Africa whose diet consists mostly of yams, and they have the highest rate of twinning anywhere in the world. Women who partake of dairy regularly are also 5 times as likely to have twins. No one really knows why though.
6.)Conceive while breastfeeding – although some women never ovulate while breastfeeding, others for whatever reason have disproved that theory and end up with more then one! Some research has been conducted and some believe that breastfeeding does cause some women to release more then one egg while ovulating.
7.)Have a large family – the more babies you have the more likely you are to conceive twins. The reasons why are unknown.
In Vitro Fertilization
8.)Get pregnant on the pill – women who take the pill but miss a day here and there are more likely to have twins. Also, the first month off the pill makes you more likely...the logic behind this theory is that your body begins to ovulate again and kicks it into high gear! Getting pregnant while on birth control is a biggie!
9.)Use fertility drugs – women undergoing fertility treatments, such as Clomid are more likely to hyperovulate. Also, a woman who gets IVF (in vitro fertilization) usually have about 3 fertilized eggs/ babies inserted into them, making the likelihood of all 3 or 2 of them surviving very great.

I am on Clomid and I am hoping for twins!
can i use clomid just to conceive twins
i'm giving clomid a try for twins as i lost twins 11 years ago and have been pregnant 8 times since with 6 kids but still felling that gap so we are giving it a go and i'll keep u posted
I've had a full term baby boy on the 14th of January 2007, due to te hospitals carlessness he had died because i was not delivered via c- section and i delivered him normal. He weighed 9 pounds and a 1/2 and 24 inches long. On the 30th of August 2007 I had a miscarry i was 4 months pregnant; and on the 5th of December 2008, I had a premature delivery, my daughter was 6 months and 2 weeks old and she also died, her lungs failed in addition she was delivered via c-section.Now I have two chances in life to get pregnant but this time I want twins.I do have a couple of twins in my family.
Seeing that I HAD A C-SECTION Approx. 8 months ago how long should I wait to have a next pregnacy. Please give me some guidence. Thank You
Fallon Sutherland-Peters,
As far as I know, I believe they like you to wait at least 6 months after a c-s before you get pregnant again. In your case, I can't imagine they would tell you to wait for any other reason then maybe if they were concerned about you emotionally. Have you any clues as to what keeps going wrong with your pregnancies? I am so so sorry for your losses. I think if it were me, I would first investigate the problem very thoroughly to see if maybe you need to be taking baby aspirin for example, or to see if maybe you have a blood clotting disorder before getting pregnant again. Many times whatever the issue may be, there is usually a medicine to treat it. Prayers for you.
This article would appear more credible if the author did a better job editing! Honestly eat yams and diary? Then instead of than? A quick spell check would lend a hand to this otherwise good advice.
Fallon Sutherland-Peters,
I myself had a c-section 11 months ago.
They do say to wait 18 months before trying to get pregnant again. The doctors give you this advice because getting pregnant before then can cause internal bleeding on the inside due to your c-section scar tearing. But all the best to you when your time comes to concieve what we all hope will be twins. I to, apologize for your loses. You will be blessed exceedingly soon and very soon (:
afer having stillborn twins, and have 4 healthy kids would like to havet the chance of having twins again. as i still fell ripped off. as i don't want to have all the testing to go thrugh to determine my firtility status. can i just ask for a script of clomid form my gp?

I'm pretty sure that the reason for #7 is that the more times you get pregnant, the more likely it is that one of those times you're going to conceive twins.
I wish I could find an article about how to make both babies stick! I have been pregnant with twins once that we know of and probably twice, and in both cases only one baby resulted :(
