Oily Skin Care Practices
To help you deal with your oily skin, there are several useful oily skin care practices you can do at home. It is not advisable to seek the help of professionals all the time. You can definitely get rid of oil in your face if only you learn to do some of these tricks at home:
Skin Care Routine:
- Oily skin needs specialized and regular cleansing. It has always been said that washing your face three to four times a day is a great help in washing away excess oil. However, too much washing can stimulate your skin to produce more oil.
- Avoid harsh soaps. They can strip off your skin’s natural protective layer that can cause reactive seborrhea where the sebaceous cells work overtime to replenish the lost oils thus exceeding what is actually needed by the skin.
- Avoid skin care products that dehydrate your skin. They tend to shrink the upper layer of the skin causing blockage and clogged pores.
- Use oil-based products toners and moisturizers because they dissolve excess sebum on the face.
- While cleansing, find some time to massage your face. The upward and downward motion of the massage can help you unclog blocked pores.
- Try using a clay or mud mask
- Exfoliate every other night and use moisturizing cream in between.
Natural Skin Care:
- Mix lime and cucumber juice. Apply the mixture onto face half an hour before taking a bath.
- Wipe your face with a cotton ball containing few drops of eu de cologne. This does not take away oil but it tightens pores to prevent acne.
- Acetone is known to dissolve oil. Choose an astringent that contains acetone.
- Mix lemon juice and water together. Pat your face with small amount of the mixture and allow it to dry. Rinse with lukewarm water.
Essential Diet Guides
- Take in foods that are rich in protein but not rich in sugar, salt and fluids.
- Take fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables. The fiber and the acid work together for a glowing skin.
- Deal with Vitamin B2 deficiency which brings in oily skin. Try dieting on wheat germ, nutritional yeast, and organ meats which are rich in vitamin B2.
- Reduce the amount of fat intake. Avoid highly seasoned food, fried and pork. Heat-processed animal fats are a no-no and vegetable oils are recommended.
The oily skin is not a problem forever. By doing these practices at home and following the guidelines religiously, you are working your way out of a greasy face. Use essential oils that can work with greasy skin like bergamot, cypress, cedar woods, junipers, lavender, lemons and sage. There are also herbs that can be applicable for treating oily skin. These are aloe vera, chamomile, horse tail and oat straw. Furthermore, a mixture of lemon grass, rosebuds and licorice roots is good for oily skin. Oily skin care experts call this mixture as a facial sauna especially created to be used two to three times a week. This sauna is done by simmering a total of two to four table spoons of dried herbs in 2 quarts of water. Sit your face on the steam for fifteen minutes at your most comfortable distance. A towel or anything of your convenience can be used to trap the steam into your face. After the steam, splash your face with cold water and allow your face to dry.
There are a lot of things you can do to stop yourself from suffering oily skin. The world may have given you something to worry about but it has also provided bounteous resources in nature for you to deal with your worries. Take these guides and certainly, you are heading on the right way to a beautiful you.

Since oily skin can be caused by many factors, like you said, then the first step in oily skin care is finding out the particular causes of one's oily skin. Also, the products that dehydrate one's skin, along with harsh soaps, may have to be done via trail and error, unless one consults a dermatologist. Just sharing my own here. Good hub. I'm into skin care myself.
