What is Spam

Email spam is sending identical countless receivers by email with the chance that with so many emails sent, at least a few people will buy what the spammer is selling.. In other words, spam is based on the email being Unsolicited Bulk Email (UBE). Email spam has grown immensely over the years; especially in the early 20th century. But the total volume of spam has decreased by a considerable amount during the last few years. The amount of email spam received by most email users has decreased due to better filtration of messages going across the servers.

How do I identify spam?

No one can master the art of accurately detecting all the spam emails in their inbox, but they can at least minimize the risk by getting a good idea about the major difference between a regular and normal email and the one that sent by spammer.

Look at where it's coming from

The first thing you can do in this connection is to see the email address to identify that whether it is regular email or spam. If the email you are scanning for spam has a lot of alphanumeric characters in its address, you should expect it to be email spam.

Make a judgment on the email domain

Second step in identifying email spam is to look at the characters that come after @ symbol. If the email has been sent by some established or respected website, it won't have same kind of address as a spammer. So if you find that the address seems unusual, you should avoid opening it to

be on the safer side.

Watch for signs of outrageous urgency

A sense of urgency and reinforcement in the body copy of an email is good sign that you should consider that particular email spam. Most spammers use this tactic to make receivers nervous that they must take advantage of the deal soon or they'll totally miss out.

Poor Grammar and misspellings are a dead giveaway

Poor grammar and ill-spelled emails can usually be seen as spam. Why? Because many spammers are not professional email marketers, and because much of spam comes from foreign countries, English is not always the spammer's first language.

Bad Phrases

If the email contains the phrases like “free” “your chance to win” at higher frequency, the chances of mail spam increases.

When you send spam emails, what are the implications to your business?

Sending spam is illegal and whoever engages on it takes the big chance of violating the CAN-SPAM Act, which means big fines and possible jail time. On top of that, your receivers will not appreciate receiving mail from you. They'll hit the spam button and ruin you rep as a sender.
