Before to start with James Bond, I think it is necessary to talk you first of his creator: Ian Fleming.

Ian Fleming was a british writer who was born in London may 28th, 1908 and he died in Canterbury the august 12th, 1964. From his hands, he created the most famous hero that we know today "Bond... James Bond". This original name has been taken from a real person calling himself "James Bond (1900-1989)" who was an ornithologist american. He wrote a book called "A Field Guide to the Birds of the West Indies" and since Ian was a passionate ornithologist, he read this book and decided to use his name for his hero.

So now that you have a brief history of Ian Fleming and how was born his hero, let's start with James Bond. I know you are eager to know this hero but everything has his time, no !!!

The first time that this character appeared to the worldwide public was in the movie "Dr No" in 1963. In this time, the actor, who had the privilege to play James, was no more and no less Sean Connery. It was the first time that the public discovered an hero dressed in a perfect suit. A british spy with the class of a gentleman and the class just to say his name "Bond... James Bond". In my opinion, it gives a better style and it lets the public to know who he is. A strong character with a self confidence in his actions and also the way he said it, a perfect gentleman. Sean will interpret this character during 6 more movies (From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds Are Forever, Never Say Never Again). Many other famous actors had the privilege to interpret this character after Sean :

  • Roger Moore (Live and Let Die, The Man with the Golden Gun, The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, A View to a Kill)
  • George Lazenby (On Her Majesty's Secret Service)
  • Timothy Dalton (The Living Daylights, Licence to Kill)
  • Pierce Brosnan (GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is not Enough, Die Another Day)
  • Daniel Craig (Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace)

The script is quite simple but very effective in my opinion. A man who has to face and to fight against someone powerful to save the world. Everyone wants to be an hero, everyone wants to save the world, a simple story but that everyone enjoys watching this James Bond fighting to save our world. The story always starts on this way, James is ending a mission, the starting credit, the movie, the ending credit and the public has always seen James with a perfect suit or a perfect smoking in any situations (falling, driving, shooting, running...). Yes always, not even a simple scratch but that is how we love him until Casino Royale.

Daniel Craig played James Bond in Casino Royale, it was the first time that James is not so perfect, we will see him running but with sweat, fighting but with scratch, in love but be hurt. From that day, we love him much more and now he is back with Quantum of Solace to revenge the death of his wife.

All those ingredients, mixing with great pictures and beautiful women, have created the most famous series of the cinema. Don't miss Quantum of Solace to your favorite theater starting November, 14th 2008 in US or end of October 2008 in Europe.

Girlfriend. They didn't get married in Casino Royale.

But good description of Daniel Craig's Bond anyways. He's definitely my favorite so far. He is Ian Fleming's Bond to a "T".
