Why I Love My Cordless Hand Blender
About a year ago I decided that I needed more nutrients and fiber in my diet. My son gave me a container of Alive protein shake mix and I started making smoothies with this mix and fresh fruit for breakfast. However, cleaning out my large old blender container soon became a chore - I must admit, I'm lazy when it comes to cleanup.
I searched for a better answer and discovered a cordless hand blender for sale on Amazon. I can be a klutz when it comes to cords, so the cordless was great for me.
There are many wonderful cordless hand blenders out there, but I'm on a limited budget, so chose a Cuisinart brand because I have a Cuisinart food processor that is nearly thirty years old and still works great.
Mine came with a clear plastic container that holds two cups and is perfect for making one breakfast smoothie. I also use it for making my own salad dressings, which save me money and are much healthier.
When your cordless blender arrives you must charge the batter pack for twenty-four hours. This is good to know if you decide to buy one while on vacation or visiting relatives.
I ordered one for my elderly father, my single son and my grandson who is living in a college dorm. None of them eat right and they tell me the blender smoothies are quite helpful, tasty and easy to make.
The Cuisinart hand blender is amazingly powerful. I've put a banana, strawberries, yogurt and ice cubes into the container and made a smoothie in about twenty seconds! The battery stays charged for a very long time, much longer than I expected it would.
When I'm ready for clean-up I simply put a drop or two of dishwashing liquid into the container and ‘blend' it - for a few seconds. This cleans the blender and the container in seconds as well.
I plan on sending one to my elderly aunt and a close friend for Christmas. It's a wonderful gift idea for under $50.
One of our favorite salad dressings is:
2/3 cup of olive or other healthy oil
1/3 Cup or wine or balsamic vinegar
1 Clove of garlic (a bud. Not the whole bulb!)
1 small bunch of fresh parsley or a teaspoon of dried.
4 Fresh basil leaves or a ½ teaspoon of dried
1 Teaspoon honey
Salt and pepper to taste
Place all ingredients into the blender container and blend until smooth - about ten seconds.
Enjoy!
