A Celebration of Hubpages Milestones
76My Hubpages Experience
On the 27th of September 2006 I was surfing some personal blogging sites with the intention of becoming a blogger when I came across an article talking about a new website on the scene called Hubpages.com.
(I can't remember where the article was now)
The aritcle stated that hubpages was so easy to use that even the persons Grandmother who had never even seen a computer could log in and and start writing articles with no effort what so ever.
The articles author went on to say that Hubpages gives you an instant readership and you can earn money from your writing through affiliate advertising.
Although at the time I had no interest in making money from writing Hubpages sounded like the perfect outlet for what thought that my writing had to offer.
On September 27th 2006 I signed up to Hubpages and published my very first Hub comparing fuel pricing in the UK to the USA and I have never looked back since, Hubpages is now a major part of my life and I love the site so much that I just have to keep coming back here.
Paul Edmondson
Community
I published my first Hubpage with little expectation of it being read, it was a short Hub not very well written and looking back not as very well researched as my more recent articles but it was all my own work and I was very proud of it.
The last time and only time, before I joined Hubpages, that I had written anything that would be read by anyone else was at school and college and even that would only be read by my tutors of the respective subjects I was taking.
You can imagine my surprise when within 20 minutes of hitting the publish now button someone had left me a comment, not just someone though, it was none other than one of the founders of Hubpages Mr Paul Edmondson whom I have since come to regard as a friend and mentor in my online publishing career, then I got other comments and the realisation hit me that people were actually reading somthing that I had written, and I was Hooked.
In the early days of Hubpages there wasn't a forum where authors could communicate with each other but there was a community feeling about the site nonetheless, everyone supported each other leaving comments in hubs and even emailing each other with advice and tips and just for a day to day chit-chat. The sense of community was very strong and it continues to be so this very day. Without the support from Authors on the site and the Hubpages staff I am positive that the Hubpages website would not be half as popular with writers as it is today.
I have made many friends on Hubpages and I am sure there will be many more to meet in the future.
My Milestones
My Personal Hubpages Milestones
Hubpages opened the floodgates in my head and the Hubs began to flow out of my head onto the internet for anyone who may be interested in what i had to write about to read, I was publishing Hubs every day and before I knew it I was publishing my 100th Hub which became a tribute to some of my friends that I had met on Hubpages even though in this Hub I killed them all as seemed to be a tradition (Started by Drax the first Hubber to reach 100 hubs in this Hub) whenever a Hubber published their 100th Hub. The Hubs just kept pouring out of me until in Febuary 2007 I was the proudest person in the world when I became the First Hubber to enter The Hubpages Hall of Fame after publishing my 400th Hub that was my first real major milestone in Hubpages and the one I am most proud of until this very day.
I have reached alot of milestones since 2006 thanks to the people who keep coming back to read my work and the support from the authors and staff here at Hubpages, in August 2008 I reached my second major Milestone a milestone that I never in my wildest dreams thought possible, checking out my Hubstats I found that visitors to my pages had reached 1 million.
13 months later I have just reached another milestone 2 million visitors to my pages on Hubpages.

My Traffic History Graph
Thank You
If it were possible i would like to thank and shake the hand of everyone out there who has ever read any of my Hubs, without Hubpages none of this would have been possible for me.
I am the first to admit that I am not a great writer and my Grammer leaves a lot to be desired, I don't know any secrets except that I write mostly about the things that I want to write about not what I think that the search engines are looking for. I research my topics thouroughly and i work on the basis of if I like it then maybe someone else out there will like it too.
Again I say thanks to Team Hubpages, all of the Hubpages Authors, and to each and every one of the 2 million people who have read my work.
To my fellow Hubbers Please use the comments box below and let everyone else know what your favorite hubpages achievement has been to date.

Jimmy - you are an inspiration. I've particularly enjoyed your WW1 series, but also some of your 'lollipops' like Oor Wullie and 'The Ladies' Bras' (remember that one?) Keep on truckin', for Scotland ;)
Wow - congratulations!! I have only been with Hub pages 5 weeks and I published 19 hubs. I am not the best writer but I love doing Hub articles. I have met alot of great people her and I look forward to many years to come. I have a ways to go, but that will not stop me from publishing hubs, creating websites and blogs. I would love to earn enough to make my car payment. I will set my sights on that car and hope to achieve it!!! Thanks for your great informations
Thanks guys, I love reading hubs also and learn a lot of new things from them, keep on hubbin! and have fun.....jimmy
Congrats Jimmy! I finally got around to signing up as one of your fans although I've been a fan from the very beginning. (I wondered why I hadn't been seeing your Hubs and discovered that I hadn't signed up.}
Jimmy! I'm proud to know you, too! Please accept this virtual handshake. Oh what the hell, howzabout a big ole manhug? I'll never forget the day I found your hubs. I remember reading about frozen sparrows and laughing and thinking "hmm. You can do humor on hubpages?" Thanks! I may not get the kind of traffic, or make the kind of money that you do, but it sure is a helluva lot of fun here!
Wow, congrats and keep on writing. I can't wait for the kind of traffic you have, but writers like you keep inspiring me to write and I will get there! :)
You make me jeolous -- Not really. You do great work, but I have not heard much from you lately. Thanks for the info.
Keep on Hubbing!
I never knew you had achieved so much at Hubpages Jimmy. Congratulations and thanks for setting an example on what writing can bring to peoples lives.
Hello there. Congrats Keep on hubbing
Definitely an inspiration to keep hubbing, I know I should be writing more, so I need to do exactly that.
That was an inspirational read! I have only been at it for a few weeks but I hope to be able to follow your excellent example. Well done!
You are definitely an inspiration! I bow down before you!
You've gone and done it! You've inspired me to write more hubs! I know that if you can do it I can too! I think this is a must read for all of us who are new to hubpages. A BIG THANK YOU!
Sometimes I find it difficult to know what to say when I have read an outstanding Hub. Your HubPages history is fascinating and inspiring! I'm relatively new here too, and I love reading the success stories. I know I cannot expect to see your kind of success without the hard work (and time) you have obviously put into it, but it's been fun, and that makes it easy to keep going.
Congratulations!
Jimmy - your work has been consistent from the start and a good exmple for new Hubbers to match. I'm particularly impressed by your Ebay and Amazon earnings. You really know how to please a market.
Jimmy, Thanks for reminding me about the early days. I don't think without the good spirited early folks we would have ever gotten off the ground. I was checking out quantcast today and HubPages is currently ranked the 107th largest site. It shouldn't be too long until all of you crack the top 100. We've come a long way and can't thank you enough for all your contributions and help to all the others here.
Thanks Paul, I always get a rush when you comment in one of my Hubs lol, and you too Patty, I love your Hubs too, I thank everyone who has commented in this Hub because each comment just proves the value of the community in Hubpages.
have fun and keep on Hubbing.....jimmy
P.S Patty congratulations on your recent milestone 1000 Hubs is a fantastic achievement which I hope to emulate soon.
Thanks for such an encouraging hub. Although maybe it's not all that encouraging because a long time ago we worked out that you must spend a lot of time researching your hubs. So I guess you haven't made that money without a lot of effort. All the same it is still encouraging, because it sounds as if you are still enjoying writing. And that is the main thing, isn't it?
Thanks for posting this, jimmythejock! I've seen you in the forums and have checked out your work before - which I like, btw. This hub has given me a real insight into your writing - so thanks so much for that. My greatest milestone to date would have to be being invited to join the HubNuggets team.
You're a credit to the site and a fine human being!
Wow! this excites me. I have searched and searched for years now, looking to make money on the internet that wouldn't be a scam!
With money like this I could actually live much better than I am now and feel like I have hope - disability $ are not large and I've worried how I'm going to survive - this is one of the ways! Thanks Jimmy - looking forward to getting to know you better via this site!
