Fun Family Hiking
After Hollis Garden, gather the family together again and hike Trek Ten Trails. The Ten Trails program is a family event to hike ten of fifteen trails over the course of the year, highlighting the local wildlife and landscapes. Cultural Activities For The Whole Family
In addition to the wonderful natural Central Florida attractions, there are plenty of free cultural attractions to enjoy and enrich your vacation, too. Free, Spooky Fun
One final free attraction that you can't miss is a little different than what you might be expecting. Spook Hill is a Lake Wales legend where gravity seems to work in reverse. If you put your car in neutral at the right spot on the hill, you will roll uphill...or will you? The legend states that an Indian village was plagued by frequent alligator attacks. The warrior chief killed the great gator in a battle that created a lake in the landscape. The chief was later buried on the north shore of the lake, and ever since strange things happened in the area. Travelers as far back as pony express mail riders noticed that their horses had trouble walking downhill, and even today cars seemingly can coast uphill against gravity. You will just have to find out for yourself!

Now on my to-do list: Explorations Children's Museum, Bok Tower Gardens, Trek 10 Trails, Nature Discovery Center and the CANDY FACTORY! We live in California and I'm planning a trip to FL. Since its such a long way, I want to be sure we experience everything we can -- and that means finding some FUN budget friendly things to do :)
Tara: I am glad you found some new ideas for your family. I know a lot of families who are staying in Florida this year rather than traveling out of state
Megan: You're welcome! The Nature Discovery Center is very beautiful. I hope you and your family have fun.
Christine: It is a long way to travel! I think it is a misconception that everything in Central Florida revolves are the big theme parks. I hope you and your family have fun exploring off the beaten path!

OMG this is awesome! We can't really afford a big family vacation this year, so we are in the middle of planning a "staycation" in Florida. I can totally see the kids enjoying some of these & it will be fun to actually do something different in Central Florida rather than the same old theme parks. :)
