The Ministry of Worship
Psalm 100 helps us to see worship as a ministry. Worship is indeed one of the greatest ministries to God and to our fellow man by the Christian. It is also one of the most underestimated ministries,
What is worship?
“Any expression of our love to God—for who He is, for what He's said, and for what He's doing. The Bible says, "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God" (1 Cor. 10:31). Worship is a physical expression of our spiritual relationship with Him.” (The Heart of Worship: What it is, and what it isn't. An interview with Saddleback Church's Rick Muchow.)
It is my opinion that without worship Christianity is like a hot air balloon with no fuel or form; we become organizations of religiosity without the spiritual DNA of life, we are flawed minds, empty hearts, and part of an accursed gospel.
- Worship was, is and shall be “communion” and “relationship” with God. Without it there is NO Christianity.
- Worship is “thanksgiving” to an awesome Savior and God for His loving Person and gifts.
- Worship is “offering” one's self to this LORD of Lords. This offering is a common testimony of all Christians as we are one body in Christ.
- Worship is “edification” of the one God within us who is greater and whose name is above all others.
- Worship is “service” to Him. (Romans 12:1 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.)
- Worship is “response” to the revelation of who God is in Jesus Christ.

A Classic Example of the Ministry of Worship
Psalms 100:1-5(Modern King James Version) A Psalm of praise. Make a joyful noise to Jehovah, all you lands. (2) Worship Jehovah with gladness; come before His presence with singing. (3) Know that Jehovah, He is God. He has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. (4) Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise; be thankful to Him, and bless His name. (5) For Jehovah is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endures to all generations.
How the Psalmist reveals the ministry of worship!
- Worship is a classic example of ministry because worship is universal. Make a joyful noise all you lands vs., 1)
- Worship is also a classic example because it is celebration! Worship Jehovah with gladness (vs. 2)!
- Next, worship is glad because God is good (vs. 3). This is a classic example of worship as confidence in God. Worship requires confidence.
- Then, there is the attitude of gratitude! Enter into his gates with thanksgiving (vs. 4). Worship is thanksgiving!
- Fifth, there is relationship in worship. His goodness, mercy and truth endures to all generations (vs. 5).
Responding to the challenge!
The psalmist gives us the reason for and the challenge to respond to God in worship. Worship must be personal and it is up to you. Can you praise Him today?

This hub is wonderful!! I love that you did it. So many people talk about going to church to worship God. But, a relationship with God is not just on Sundays and Wednedays. It's a 24/7/365 relationship. He is our Best Friend if we'd only allow Him to be. I love the way you used the word 'relationship' in your hub. It brings it home and helps us realize how personal it is. He's not just our Savior and God, but He's so much more if we'd only realize it and open our hearts to the possiblities of Him. Thank you for doing this hub! Great job!
Thank you so much for this hub on Worship because He is Worthy. ~ eddie
Thanks for the visits. Worship is very important to me. It is my personal expression of love to an awesome Savior!
I was thinking about this. Psalms 150 says let everything that has breath praise the Lord. That tells me that everyone can give Him praise. Even the lost can give God praise. It takes a spirit of truth to worship Him. Praise is not necessarily worship. But worship is totally spiritual and true.

Awesome hub!!! I appreciate you adding the link to my hub also. Worship is required of all of God's children. it also must be done with willing heart, or it means nothing.
Worship Him in spirit and in truth.
