A Cool Place To Stay-The Ice Hotel
60Ice hotels. One of the most unique and possibly one of the strangest places to spend the night. There are alot more ice hotels than I imagined and alot more people than I imagined stay at them.
A question I'm sure that crosses one mind when thinking about ice hotels is what do you do there? Well there are of course ice sculpting classes. People host parties, weddings and banquets at these frozen accommodations. The locations are usually in the wilderness where the ice is sure to keep cool.
The ice hotel came out of the idea of the igloo. Since packed ice and snow is a good insulator, the creators of the ice hotel thought people might actually get a kick out of sleeping in them during vacations and honeymoons. These hotels have conference rooms, restaurants, bars, spas and anything a regular hotel has.
There are ice hotels in Sweden,Norway,Finmark,Canada, Japan and Romania.
I'm sure these hotels can be a pretty amazing places to stay. The pictures speak for themselves.

Cool idea, Christine! (so corny). The first time I heard or seen one of these was in "Die Another Day." Great movie by the way. Do you have any idea how much it costs to stay in one? Just curious.
r Burow-I agree.
dohn121-it costs anywhere from $300 to $600 a night.
How Cool!
Seeing an ice hotel would be cool (neat) but I wouldn't pay that much to freeze. Good info.
This is really wild, as if extracted from a fantasy. Thank you
That's pretty neat , I wonder how that take showers or baths there it must be pretty cold.
Hi, thanks for stopping by my Hubs. I've been wanting to visit the one in Norway. This looks insanely cold and insanely fun!
We could use one of these in Phoenix right now! Nice post!
c. stewart- thanks
wesleycox-me neither
not telling-it would be a cold fantasy:)
wildsurgg-I'm sure of it
perfumelover-your welcome.
I think cold is an understatement.
dink96-i know what you mean. i'm in colorado and it's hot as hell here today.
Christine,
I've heard about these hotels. Pretty cool, although I'm not sure if I would want to stay for too many nights I'm not really a cold weather vacation type of girl. Love the hub :) Interesting and great pics..
Are toilets made of ice too?
Totally dreamy and cool- no pun intended. Nice hub. I am just wondering like jadescircles- are the toilets made of ice too?
allmomneeds2know-i can't deal with the cold either.
jadecircles & dana- I would hope not but anything's possible huh? I would just pee standing up.
That is so cool! (Pardon the pun!) One time I was in Quebec City, Quebec,Canada and I went to an ice festival. I entered an enormous ice castle and unfortunately, because it was sooo cold (10 Below zero Fahrenheit) my camera froze so I didn't get any pictures. It was quite the experience though!
Wonderful idea - I think I'd rather sleep somewhere warmer, though!
nice info for hot summer times
have been there,www.snowcastle.net/en/
Very interesting, love the photos. I have always wondered what it would be like to stay in an ice hotel.
Beautiful pictures. I think someplace cozy with a fireplace would be nice, but this is a fine idea for the adventurous spirit!
Possibly not a good place for a romantic holiday or honeymoon...one word comes to mind...Shrinkage....lol
This is really cool. I would love to stay there at least one night.
What a wonderful article, and such beautiful photos. GBY Dear Heart.
I never heard of this before, and was fascinated. The pics are BEAUTIFUL!! GORGEOUS!!! But I'm with several other people who commented--how the heck can you keep warm!

I think I would like to visit, but wouldn't want to spend the night. I would like to see the ice sculptured furniture etc. I suppose it is possible to dress warmly enough, but how would I keep my nose warm?:)
