A Day At The Dallas World Aquarium
60The Dallas World Aquarium
I just returned from a trip to from The Dallas World Aquarium with my family this past weekend. I had been to the aquarium in the past when it was much smaller and I was completely blown away by the new experience!
You enter on the Canopy level of the Orinoco Rainforest. As you enter the rainforests you will be amazed by the many species of birds flying around freely from the island in the River Exhibit to the top of the beautiful seven story structure. On the Canopy level my favorite attraction was The Sloth Forest. It was really cool to see a live Sloth! Unfortunately this time he/she was curled up in to a little ball sound asleep so I could not get any good pictures.
As you spiral down to the second level of the Rainforest you first come to the home of the Giant river otters! That was definitely my favorite attraction of this level. We were there for about 30 minutes looking through the glass. I was able to get some great pictures of these Amazing animals! Like the Canopy level you will still be able to see various species of birds flying around freely. One other attraction that I just have to mention is the Orinoco Crocodile. Check out the pictures! They really speak for themselves!
As you continue to explore The Dallas Word Aquarium you spiral down to the first level. I know I have been using amazing quite a bit, but that is the best word to describe this place. You come down a few steps and there is this theatre screen size looking glass. We spent about 30 minutes here also. There were really, really, big fish in this tank. A fisher men dream! There was one fish called the Arapaima that I was excited about! This is a really popular fish to eat in Brazil. I saw it on the discovery channel. There is a myth that this fish will eat man!
As you move deeper in to the rainforest you make your way into what I think is the main reason everyone puts The Dallas Word Aquarium on their “Places to go light”! I am sure everyone has seen it on a commercial. The famous under water tunnel! Sharks, Sting ray, Sawfish! It was Just a wonderful site. I missed feeding time, but the next time I will not. I was told that it was a really cool to watch them eat. These guys are awesome under water models. I was able to get really good pictures of these guys also!
After all that spiraling down we began to spiral back up were we came upon Mayas fully dressed in their cultural attire. They put on a pretty good show. There was a very beautiful Jaguar, but he was sleeping like the Sloth. Like the Canopy level you will still be able to see various species of birds flying around freely. At this level you are now on top of the tunnel you were in before, and you have a bird’s eye view of the sharks.
This place is a must see. The Dallas World Aquarium is great for a first date, or a family affair. They have three different restaurants serving Grilled Salmon to something as simple as a Frito Pie. You are able to park right in front of the aquarium for $6.00. They have elevators that will take you level to level for those who need them. Wow what else can I say…? When we can out the aquarium they had horse and carriages sitting out front! It was a $35.00 ride but it was well worth it and very relaxing. Now this would definitely impress your lady friend, or your wife of 30 years.
Let’s Enjoy Life More,
