Dyson Air Multiplier. A table fan from Dyson.

It is another great product from Sir James Dyson, who invented the famous Dyson Vacuum cleaner. This product "Dyson Air Multiplier" is as novel as the Dyson Vacuum cleaner.

The Dyson Air Multiplier is a fan without the blades and yet more efficient than the regular fan with blades. It provides up to 1.5 times the air per second compared to the conventional fan.

How the Dyson Air Multiplier works?

Sir James Dyson explains in the video how the multiplier works. The air is first accelerated through a tiny annular aperture. This in turn creates a fine stream of air that passes over a 16° airfoil-shaped ramp and provides a constant stream of air at a particular direction or at various directions when the Multiplier oscillates (at 90 degree oscillation angle).

The fan with blades provides intermittent bursts of air compared with a constant stream of air from Dyson Air Multiplier.

Since there are no blades, the Dyson Air Multiplier is safe to use and also easier to clean. Another advantage is it doesn't accumulate dust compared to the fan with blades. It is extremely lightweight and easily storable when not in use.

The Dyson Air Multiplier has a dimmer setting by which we can control the speed of air flow.

The technology used in this fan comes from technologies used in turbochargers and jet engines.

Not only it generates air, the surrounding air is also trapped by this generated air and flows into an expanded air stream.

Prices range from $329 for a 12-inch fan to $299 for a 10-inch fan. You can purchase it here.
