A Free Education From The Net
56RE: Getting a Free Education
Need to know something? Want to learn something? Are classes from the colleges and schools too expensive? Hey there is something new out there that just might be a good deal.
There are free tutoring and classes offered on the Internet. They are in just about any subject you want.
Finding Free Courses on The Web
Finding free courses offered on the web is easy. Just put in the search window of a browser like Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Opera what course of study desired.
Let's say that the desired course of study is CSS. Just put "Free online tutoring in CSS" in the browser or search engine search box. This will take you to a list of possible sites. Here is an example of what came up:http://certification.about.com/cs/testingresources/a/tutorials.htm. Towards the bottom of this page is a link to named: Free CSS Class. Click on the link and it opens to the class.
Take a tour of my results for CSS Free Tutoring through the Yahoo search engine as follows:
Drop by the upper listed links and see what they are about. They give an idea of what can be found under CSS free on line tutoring or CSS free on line classes.
Let's try to find something about math. As an experiment, I entered “free on line classes in math.”
The search is done in Yahoo but can be done in Google or whatever is the search engine of choice.
Here are some of the results with Yahoo:
The last one listed under the last listing, diploma guide etc., offers a lot of college courses in math from leading university.
The subjects available are momentous. They just go on and on ad infinitum on the Internet. The limits are only that the student or would be learner choses to be be the limits.
There are classes in art, cooking, building a computer etc. All for free.
Interesting enough, MIT, Michigan Institute of Technology, one of the leading universities in the world offers free classes on the Net. This might be interesting to try. No one is turned down for the free classes.
Some of the Internet classes may be counted towards college credit. Which ones? Well that varies from college to college or university. It does not hurt to ask.
Just ask the head of the department, counselor or registrar of the school of your choice what free on line classes might possibly count towards credit. All they can do is say no. The answer just might be yes. It might be a good idea to ask ahead of time if time is at a premium. Just make a copy of the URL and a description of the course or even a copy of the lessons on line. Show this information to the registrar, head of department or you counselor, whoever approves of the classes that are transferable. A test of knowledge by the university of choice may be required for these free on line classes.
There are also free on line classes and tutoring for just for fun or something that you may just want to learn like knitting, drawing cartoons, creating gifs, cooking, arts and crafts, how to use applications like Front Page, etc.
This is what I found about drawing cartoons: http://www.scribd.com/doc/3858429/Free-Online-Drawing-Lesson.. This is a pretty thorough instruction on cartooning. There are also links to other drawing lessons on this particular page.
Want to learn it? There is probably a class about it for free on the Internet. Look and see if there is. Just enter what you are interested in studying into the search box of the search engine of your choice.
