The Best iPhone App

Do you own an iPhone? Have you ever heard of a free application called Pandora?

My wife purchased an iPhone for me for Christmas and I must tell you, this free application is by far the greatest (in my opinion) for the iPhone. What does it do you ask? It streams music, but not just any music, and that is the beauty of this product. You start your OWN radio station (many stations actually) by selecting a song or songs, or an artist, or several artists. The program then analyzes the style or styles of music that you have selected and plays music that it predicts you will like. How cool is that? But, the fun doesn't stop there. As the program chooses songs it thinks you will like, you rate the songs with a thumb's up, or thumb's down depending on whether you like them or not and the program takes this into account when selecting future songs. It is truly amazing and fantastic and what's even better is that it is all completely and totally free. There is a little bit of advertising that the website does to cover the costs of streaming the songs, which also makes it a legal streaming music service. In addition to the iPhone application, this service is also available for streaming music over the web at www.pandora.com.

To give you an example of how great this program is, we had some family over during Christmas. We don't own any good Christmas music, so I went to Pandora, typed in Christmas (rock) and got the best classic Christmas music. It was all of the Christmas songs I remember from when I was a kid.  I hooked my laptop into the stereo and we were set with perfect background music.

If you are familiar with the iPhone, then you know it is also an iPod, but I must tell you, that I haven't bothered to load any music on it because Pandora is just such a fun application.  You never know what you are going to get, but as your develop your station you will find that most of the music it plays is enjoyable.  You can have multiple stations for when you are in different moods, or have different needs--a classical station for background music when you are working or reading, a driving type of station, a hard rock station, a pop station. The options are endless, so what have you got to lose? Check out their website now, you won't be sorry.
