A Guide to Arlington Texas
58Arlington, Texas was founded in 1876 and was named after General Lee's Arlington House, in Arlington, Virginia. Since then, Arlington has grown alot. In 1954, the company GM (General Motors) arrived and built a large industry. In 1996, Amber Hagerman was abducted and killed in Arlington. This led to what is known as the AMBER Alert System. Today, Arlington is growing rapidly. From Six Flags, to the massive new Cowboy stadium, Arlington grows daily.
Location
Arlington, Texas is located almost directly in the middle of Dallas and Fort Worth. Arlington borders small towns such as Kennedale and Grand Prairie and contains smaller towns inside, such as Dalworthington Gardens and Pantego. Arlington has a great location due to the nearly equal distance to Fort Worth and to Dallas.
Attractive Sites
Arling"fun", has some may call it, certainly lives up to these standards. Arlington has many attracive theme parks and locations. Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor are just some of the fun theme parks in Arlington. Some great locations include the Ballpark in Arlington where the Texas Rangers play, the new Dallas Cowboys stadium literally right across the street, the Parks Mall, located in south Arlington, and the newly completed Arlington Highlands, which is home to many shops and restaurants.
Here are some other fun things to visit while in Arlington; Alley Cats Family Fun Center, Arlington Convention Center, Arlington Museum of Art, CATS Theatre, Lincoln Square, Palace of Wax, Ripleys Believe it Or Not, Legends of the Game at Texas Rangers Ballpark, the Planetarium at UTA (University of Texas at Arlington), and UTA itself.
