This hub came to be at the request of another hubber.

I haven't shared this story with many people at all. Many of you have read many of my other hubs and know a lot about me. When I was very young; 15-16 I was hitch-hiking a lot too. I was hitching rides all over.

There was a time when I was doing that from Denver, Colorado back home to Iowa where my Mom and step-dad were. I was stuck way up in northwestern Nebraska on a road that had maybe one car every 2-3 hours. It was terrible. I would walk and walk and I finally couldn't anymore and it was getting dark. I hadn't ate or drank anything and I was in terrible shape.I went out in the cornfield and layed out my sleeping bag and slept as well as I could. I was up at sunup walking and sticking out my thumb again.

I just couldn't go on. I sat down for a bit and looking out to some cattle I said a prayer.

What is amazing about that is I really didn't believe in God at that time. I said," God, if you are really there now is when I need you. I am asking for help."

What happened next many people have tried to write off as coincidence, but not me!

I turned around and there sat a car. I never heard it or anything. The car was a small box type car. The driver was a very large man; probably near 300 lbs and his head rubbed the roof of the car. The man asked if I needed a ride and with tears in my eyes I exclaimed,"Yes!"

When I got in the passenger seat I noticed in between myself and the driver was a large Bible. He asked me where I was going and I told him Ft Dodge, Iowa. But I would take where ever he could get me. He told me that it was wonderful because he was scheduled to speak in a Ft Dodge church that very next day.

I was amazed. I knew this was our Father God at work.

The man told me his name was John and he was a missionary. He fed me and gave me water. We were approx 500 miles from our destination. John shared a lot about Jesus and God and the way to salvation that day. He took me to my parent's doorstep and asked me to come to the church the next day. I vowed that I would.

Mom was happy to see me, step-dad wasn't but Mom ruled so I got to stay. I made a promise so I set my alarm clock and awoke early. I walked to the church which was only about 8 blocks away.

I sat through the sermon which seemed directed towards me the whole way. I felt the love of every one around me. John wasn't there. I asked the preacher after the sermon about him and he told me he didn't know such a man. He did tell me that there was a traveling missionary that had stopped at the church years before whose name was John but that he was murdered in Denver years before.

John was my angel; I know It! I can't deny it.

I wasn't the "perfect" Christian after that, but the seed was planted and growing. I'm still not a "perfect" Christian but I accepted Jesus in my heart years back. He is our redeemer.

For those of you that want to say this is all made up or put it down, that is your choice. I know the Truth and any good gambler would know that the best bet is with Jesus. The odds favor him infinitely.
