Monte

Monte has beautiful eyes with some blue in them because he is part Paint.

How Monte Got His Name

As I had said in one of my earlier post, my daughter-in-law is an animal enthusiast!  She just loves animals!  And on top of her list is horses!  I have to give her a lot of credit for there are many people out there that love horses, but never persue it to the point of actually going out and getting one!

Well, anyways, with all that said and done, let me introduce you to Monte! Jess and Matt bought Monte when he was just a yearling.  The two of them live just outside of Charlestown West Virginia where the horse race track and casino is.  If you ever are able to wonder that way in your lifetime, you will see plenty of horse ranches in the area.  I believe that is one of their lifetime goals is to own one of these also. And you guessed it!  This is where Monte originated!

Now the name Monte is just his nickname.  His real name is Montego Bay.  I know, you are saying what? A horse named after somewhere in the Caribbeans?  Aha! Don't let that name fool you!  As you will find, Monte was named after his parents and one of them being a thoroughbred race horse!

Monte's mother is called Silver Tea Cup and his father's name is Van Go.  So the the Matt and Jess  sort of combined the two names together by taking Tea part from the mother, Go from the father and Bay from the color of the horse. Hence, they came up with the name Montego Bay! Sounds original enough!

Now Monte will never be a race horse, but he sure is a beaut!

Here you can see a little bit of the blue eyes. Monte, wll you hold still for a second!

This is the stable that Monte stays at.  They are very friendly people who take very good care of Monte.  Now that he is no longer a yearling, he is being broken in for horse back riding.

Monte Has A Friend

Monte has a friend at the stables.  He is a horse also.  The horse that I'm talking about is Johnny Cakes. Johnny Cakes is a retired race horse now living out his days in a stable.  The sad thing about Johnny is that he seems bored and walks around a lot. I wonder if that is how it will be for us when we retire?

Off With The Saddle!

Well, you all know that Monte is being saddle broken. Monte needed some extra guidance with this, so Jess and Matt sent Monte to a special training stable just to do this. He will be there for two whole months! Just like us Moms sends our kids to summer camp, Monte is off to his horse training camp! Hang in there Monte ole boy! You'll do just fine!

Hooray For Monte!

As you all know, Monte was sent to a horse training stable to be broken in.  Well, he's back!  The new and improved Monte now can be rode by Jess.  Now there will be many more fun days between Jessica and her beloved Monte!

Hey, I've got a thoroughbred named Monte (same spelling). Just wrote a hub on him and his partner in crime Ben. Thanks for sharing your story. If you are interested check out mine....horses swinging from rafters and other antics.
