To: President Obama

Dear Sir:

I have learned over the the last twenty years from by own experience that you can live high on the hog for several years borrowing money to do it. I have been living beyond my means and I have accrued up a lot of debt. I kept borrowing money, and re-financing my assets to stay afloat, but it wasn't working. Eventually the debt and interest payments started overwhelming me, and was leaving me unable to recover.

I have analyzed by position and I have came up with my own financial plan to be out of debt within seven years or less. Between selling off the non-necessacities and pulling money out of savings to payoff some debt, I have enabled my family to live with in our budget with a iittle left over. The extra money will be used to help accelerate the paying off of the other rest of the debts. Once I have done this I will have eleviated myself from over $2000 of debt payments per month. This money will become free cash for me to save and invest. This is very important because i now have college age children.

Mr. President, I believe that nation economy works on the same rules and principles as home economics works, except all of the number has six zeros after them. I have watched you for over a year now, and know that you and your wife are very frugal, and have not lived over your means. I even saw that you stayed at a small apartment in Washington D.C. while you were a senator. I know at times that when you did not have much money, you did not go out and barrow it. With this I exhort you to use the same principles you used for your personnel finances to the finances of our nations economy. Please apply the same principle as president to our economy as you did to you own personnel finances, and do not borrow to try to get the economy going. Mr. President, the stimulus package that you guys are promoting is barrowed money. You wouldn't borrow for your own family, please do not do it for the nation.

Instead of borrowing money, I urge you to do as I did, and find a way to cut spending and get our debt lowered. Then, and only then will we start on a recovery. I could not solve my problems by borrowing more, and neither can this nation. I am afraid, Mr. President, that taking on more debt will make our bond market crash. Basically, all this debt is being created through the bond market. If the other countries stop buying our bonds because they believe that the debt is to high, the bond market will crash and our country will be bankrupted. Please don't let this happen!

For our economy to recover we have to eliminate debt. The corporations that employ the millions of Americans have to be able to make money to employee them. We have to have strong corporations in order to have a strong middle class. I heard you say, we have to have strong middle class. Yes, we do, and for them to be strong, they have to have employment. Without employment, they are no longer middle class, but un-employed. Please help us save our corporations and our middle class. They are simbients. You cannot have one without the other. You need corporations to provide the jobs, and the workers to work them. They co-exists.

Government spending to create jobs is living off borrowed money, and as addressed earlier in my letter, does not work. The corporations have to be able to stand profitable and be able to employ the working class. Once the corporations are strong, everyone is working, then the economy will recover, not until then. No matter how much the government spends, it cannot help, because the government will either have to borrow it, or tax the corporations to get the money. This putting the corporations in to more hardships and possibly laying off more employees, as we are seeing today.

I urge you Mr. President to look at the government spending and cut everywhere you can. Get our spending in order. Pay down the debt. Allow our corporations to recover, do not place any more hardships on them, and try to relieve some of the hardships if you can.

You and I have to do it at home, the government should have to do it for our nation's shake. Our government as grown to the point that over one-half of the people employed, work for the government. This means that every non-governmental working person has to pay the wage of a working government employee. One-half of our incomes goes to the government as either sales taxes, property taxes, local taxes, state taxes, or national taxes, and now I understand why.

Please Mr. President. Cut spending, lower our debt, in order to cut interest payments. And by all means, do not pass the stimulus package.

I know borrowing is wrong and what makes it worse is now the superpower of the world is China because they own our debt and can play us anyways they want. I'm worried, very worried but I tell myself, I can only do I am doing, go to work, do my job and "hope" my vote counted for something last year. I'm worried no action by the government is worse than anything even though I am a "government stay out of my way" kind of guy.

GT, I know what you mean. I am kinding feeling that best thing the gov't can do is stay out of it. Almost every bill they have past over the last 20 years have put restriction on us and made it harder to do business. I do not see anything the gov't can do to help out. I am not against bailouts, when it is just a loan with repayment, but this stimulis package is scary. And for the gov't to tell you how you have to do things. I sure you would just love then legislature to tell you that you had to do things different at your job -- like they are the experts! LOL I could see how far that would go with you. It would be you next hub about wackos.

You're probably right about 'not borrowing' theory. Possibly he and his advisors feel that it might be a faster way out of the debt trap as he feels confident to be able to pay back soon. This is just my opinion. Who knows what gos on at the top level. Good read. Thums up.

Thanks for hubbing over anjalichgh

And if it doesn't work?  Our debt will be enormous, and no one will borrow us money.  Therefore bankrupting the nation.  Watch the bond rates, if they start dropping, we are toast.

hello eovery,

You're talking just like the majority of Americans feel about this Bailout and Stimulus Trap. The Government, let's not forget, owes nothing to anyone. It is you and me and our Children and their Children who must pay this back. We have all just had credit shoved down our throats, whether we like it or not.

This President keeps shouting that all the economists and American people agree that this is the thing to do. I have documents signed by hundreds of main stream economists that have told Obama that he is totally wrong in this matter. But we the people are not told about these economists. You will also have noticed that the Poll at my Hub shows that over 90% of Americans believe that this Stimulus will destroy what is left of the economy.

If we are going to survive we must get out from under the crushing mountain of debt we have created. The problem Government has is that in order to stay a financial world leader they must create ways to put money in the hands of consumers. The only possible way to do this is by using credit, because honestly, most Americans are either poor, broke, or their wealth is nothing but numbers on a piece of worthless paper.

I knew a Millionaire years ago. As I sat at his table he showed me the Millions he was worth. He seen by my response that I was impressed. He then shook his head and laughed. I said, what? That paper says you are worth $8 Million Dollars! He laughed again, and said, "That's on paper, if I turned in everything on that paper and converted it to cash, I would hardly have a Million. At the time I didn't understand, now I do.

Isn't it sad that this President can budget for himself in a smart manner, but when it comes to the Nation, anything goes? He is not a stupid man, and I have heard him say over and over that this economy would not turn around for years. So, knowing this, he also knows that this credit, or Stimulus as he calls it, will not be paid back any time soon.

We were got to this position by credit, and now it is crumbing underneath us. And we keep trying to go get out of it by getting further into debt. I am afraid that until it total collapse, only then can we then get out from underneath it. And all of the people with the millions on paper.

I just realized, is the the wealth redistribution that they have been promising us. The rich lose all of their money so everyone is equal and poor?

Thanks for hubbing by and you thoughts

Keep on Hubbing!

That's what I keep telling everyone, when this is all over, there will be equality. There will be the poor, poorer, and the poorest, but we will all be poor. However, is this a bad thing, or could it be a blessing in disguise?

Henry Ford said he made his money during the depression. As everything is falling, there are loads of opportunity. You just have to pick up some of the pieces and run with them. That is, if the government will let you, but it sounds like the mechanism are going into affect that will try to prevent anyone from making it big anymore. So much for the American dream.
