Seth Rogan and James Franco's Stoner Adventure

Seth Rogen is an actor that I will laugh at, but feel bad about it in the process. He was, after all, in the unforgivable woman hating film "Knocked Up." Other roles of his ("The 40-Year Old Virgin," "Superbad") may be funny, but they certainly do not make him a likable character.

My feelings about Rogen somewhat reflect how I feel about any stoner movie; they're dumb and not something to be idealized, but you still can't help but chuckle at the idiocy.

With the mention of Rogen and stoner movies you might have already guessed (or seen the title of this hub) that I'm going to be talking about Rogen's new flick (that he both stars and wrote) about a pot loving guy, "Pineapple Express."

The odd title first sparked my interest and pulled me in, while the basic stoner adventure plot outline pushed me away. But then I saw the trailer and now I couldn't be more excited about the marijuana loving film.

First off, major kudos to whoever decided to use Sri Laken genius songstress M.I.A.'s music. The song went perfect with the preview and is sure to pull in some indie-loving hipsters.

Secondly, contrary to my previous feelings about both Seth Rogen and stoner movies, "Pineapple Express" actually looks smart. The art direction looks magnificent and I sense an excellent performance coming from the films other star, former Spiderman nemesis and best friend, James Franco.

Overall, the trailer doesn't make "PIneapple Express" look like your typical stoner movie, in fact, it looks like it would fall in the almost genius vein of Tarantino's classic, "Pulp Fiction." I'm going to keep an open mind on this one and definitely catch it during it's movie theater run. Who knows, maybe this is one Seth Rogen film where I won't feel guilty laughing.
