A Man Alone

Darkness surrounds me
silent sounds fill the air
my steps are forgotten
No one hears no one cares

I am a man alone

Outside the paradox
I live in a another world
reaching for faces
somewhere beyond the veil

I am only flesh and bone

I thought I saw her once
On a vague distant shore
I felt it stirring inside
a dream was born

It was far from home

But then it died
faded and forgotten
like an old picture
It was weathered and spotted

I am still a man alone

Now this one broke my heart where the other one stole my heart. You are truly gifted, I know because I love poetry that reaches deep into the soul and touches you where nothing else can. Awesome!

I love the "silent sounds". It makes perfect sense. I love the imagery of the picture in the end too.

This is nice poem, it doesn't tell you everything. You have to look for the truth. But you can feel the gentleness of his oneness. Perhaps it's the fragility of it. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I agree with Moonchild; your poem doesn't tell us everything, but it tells us enough...like looking in a mirror of a darkened room, we recognize the overarching outlines, having shared such also, but not the particulars...fill in the blanks with your own experience..Thank you for this...I'm a new fan and I am looking forward to more of your well constructed and intriguing poetry...Larry

Lovely Poem.

I hope "the Man Alone" finds a companion. You will see her again and this time, it won't be a Mirage.

Thanks for sharing.

how beautiful yet sad. Some of life's beauty is in sadness as I have learned. "I am only flesh and bone" That is a very intimadating sentence. The thought of being such a fragile life form is overwhelming. The thought of being this fragile life form alone can be even scarier. What I am trying to say is I love this poem!
