As I get Older I find myself wanting more. I know I should be happy. I do have enough in life.. yet is it? I have a home a car a job. A lot of people don't have any of those. I should be happy and I relatively am. But when I hear about extravagant amounts of money being used on apparently useless things.. I Wonder. where is my piece of the pie?

Lexus with a " Cheshire Cat " front. I kid you not.
Lexus with a " Cheshire Cat " front. I kid you not.

I want things. I admit I am becoming more materialistic. I want a bank account with enough money to get my son through school. I want to be able to get a cup of coffee or slurpee int he morning without scraping together change. I want A Lexus! I want To buy a place for my father to live that is not a nursing home! I want a swimming pool. I want to be able to fly my sister in for the holidays. I want bling! I want to go to concerts and I want ot be able to pay for meals at a restaurant with cash and NOT a credit card! I don't want ot be a rock-star.. I just want my piece of the pie..

I want to be glamorous! I want highlights in my hair i want to wear really good make up and acrylic nails! No I don't want to be high maintenance! I just want to have the option to pamper myself. I want to go to spas and have back massages. I just want more!

I don't want the glamorous to become dowdy and have it become synonymous with my profession. Mariah Carey dressed down for the public and her movie Precious which is due out in November. That is a news story?? Now I have to fight off the stereo types that all social workers are dowdy and abused. Thanks Mariah!

My net worth just over 30,000.  Mariah's net worth is 225 million.  She calls being able to play  a character somewhat like me art...I  may not be able to sing.. but will somenone teach me how to act  and put me in front of a camera for a couple mill?

I don't want to feel guilty for wanting things. I don't want to feel guilty for extravagant spending. If NASA shed no guilt for spending 79 million dollars without so much as making a splat on the moon, I will not shed a tear for feeling like I want something shiny and sparkly, or yet another new pair of shoes.. We as Americans should really have a vote in how much NASA spends on thier misison. I am all for space exploration, but for 79 Million dollars I would like to see a space alien please. If you guys at NASA can't produce one, give the money to Steven Speilburg and George Lucas. I am sure they could find one for us for that kind of cash.  (I know I know even if they found an alien they would never tell us!)

Do you know how much credit card debt that kind of dough would pay off? Sigh!

Inspired by Bumble bees??

No doubt you have seen the Retro outfits for the NFL. They still look a little goofy. How much money did the NFL spend on that? I am sure it was an obscene amount of money that could have been better spent. Where is my piece of the pie?

The only piece of information I could find on how much the United States  has spent on the Iraq and Afghanistaon War was in 2007.  At that time it was reported the United States had invested 78 Billion dollars not  to mentions lives lost in these wars.  We could be putting that money to better use!

Should I curtail my spending? Is anyone else going to? Payday is now exchange day. Where is my piece of the pie? In 2002 it was tracked that we have 750 billion dollars in credit card debt as a total. Most Americans have an average of 8000 dollars in credit card debt. ( sigh there I go overachieving again!) Gee maybe we could have lent some of that debt to NASA. So if we are in that much debt just imagine how much the credit card companies are making from us... Staggering isn't it?  Where o where is my piece of the pie??.

A report came out today about how the CEOs of government bailed out banks have lined their pockets an extra four percent.  The CEO's of the banks CIT and Bank Of America were able to give themselves a 100,000 a year raise so they would be able to use their personal jets.  One CEO of another bank recieved  a 2.5 Million dollar raise to help him with his taxes.  And yet another CEO got a 200,000 dollar membership to a country club.  I am so glad the 700 million dollar bailout did not go to waste!  When you come down to it I am the CEO of my home!  I probably have more responsibilities than these guys. ( is there another reality show here?) Where in the heck is my bailout?  I think I am going to begin a campaign asking these CEO's for about twenty thou to erase some of my debt.. :)

We are all human and strive for more in life. I guess my more will have to be found within myself. I know this has been a rant, but it is frustrating when you work hard and seem to get nowhere. It is even more frustrating when there are billions upon billions of dollars out there that will never be in my grasp. I know I shouldn't be greedy, but when you get older in life you just imagine yourself being further along or having more.  I  am no afraid to wish for more any longer. However, for now the piece of the pie will have to be humble and small. The Bling, the Lexus, the plane tickets will all have to be for another day, time or dream. :) Thanks for reading...

I'm sure we all want material things at one time or another, but we can't get carried away; because by wanting so much we make ourselves miserable, if we don't have the means to get them. thank you for your hub and thank for sharing. creativeone59

Hi Creativeone: You know it's not so much about having all the stuff.. it s just about having the choice to have all the stuff. I know stuff is not the answer and will not make me happy..But it is just the thought of having choices. And thae fact that all that moola is being overspent on things drives me nuts too!

Elisabethkmco, I'd share a piece of the pie with you if it were real! Thanks for kind words..

I LIKE this hub a lot. I think you expressed what so many around the world feel, particularly when we watch the news about the big money machines and the billions in payouts to investors and upper management. We are being robbed by them. Their greed is obscene.

But I'm with you. I want a few things before I kick the bucket too. Thanks for a very good hub.
