How Could You?

The world was different when we were brothers;

it was before the white face boiled the sea.

We swam together…you and me.

Do you know that your

kin still mourn for thee?

Although you left,

many of your kind still swim within the dream.

A dream of vast deep blue,

swimming with blinding alacrity!

We yet mourn,

you were the best of us,

the most brave and most robust.

You left us for an adventure in a place

we could not follow.

Yet we loved you,

and sing songs of you still.

Intrepid,

Undaunted,

Beautiful!

Once you knew what harmony is,

now you murder your kin.

Has it been so long since you were once among them?

Have you forgotten that we loved one another?

That we once shared our mother’s dream,

swimming together in the sea?

Brother it rends our hearts that you have taken this turn,

Many among us have begun to hate,

To fear,

To hesitate to protect you while you are in need.

Tell me,

is this rancor truly our fate?

I now see some of you,

our kin,

brothers and sister that even now cry.

if we were not yet bound to the sea,

do you think we would not also weep?

Know that we still love you brother.

Even if you have taken to land that is so dry.

Come home.

Once again the voice speaks up for those who still live in innocense of the white face. Dolphins are another of the world's beautiful creatures. I love your writing

Oh this was beautiful.  It reminded me of some of the Native American stories I've read.  Ummmm, I'm not gonna watch that video though.  I'll have my head over here, firmly planted in the sand.

Thank you Randy...that video is very graphic. I recommend not watching it for you, just listen to the narration while you feel the words of the poem....that is where I wrote from.

Oh Trooper that was such a beautiful poem by an equally beautiful writer. God I love animals and it breaks my heart to see man inflict cruelty upon any beast. I saved a little hamster from a ferral cat the other day, I was hoping to save it. It died about 10min later, and I actually cried and cried. It is my heart for animals I guess. Thumbs up for this one Trooper :)

This is beautiful.. you are an amazing talent! I won't watch the video. My heart hurts at the picture on the front. What 'men' are capable of is staggering, both in inflicting pain and healing pain..I vote for the latter. That would be your category. Many hugs!

Candie V, Thanks again for the kind words.

Alekhouse, welcome and thank you for the comments on this, and the other hubs you visited. Don't worry about watching the video, as I said to Randy, it is extreamly graphic.

Tom, we can only hope.

Scott, thanks. I had to delay for a few days. My wife went out of town for the summer and she didn't want me to be surly for out last moments. Tonight is Q night. Thanks for asking.

You speak to the heart and from the heart - for beneath our individual facades we're all creatures of this earth, equals in her eyes. It's beautiful, thanks for sharing :D

Nature can be very cruel, and that's just nature being true to itself. When we are cruel it is us perverting ourselves for the sake of some selfish whim. I love all creatures great and small, and I respect nature for what it is. Time to end man-made cruelty to all animals.

I agree Jeff. While I am not averse to hunting to feed one's self, mass murder on this scale is unsustainable and beyond reason.
