A Song about Bees

Who is this that cometh out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, with all powders of the merchant?

Thy lips, drop as the honeycomb: His head is as the most fine gold, his locks are bushy, and black as a raven. His cheeks are as a bed of spices, as sweet flowers: his lips like lilies, dropping sweet smelling myrrh. His mouth is most sweet: There are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines, and virgins without number.

I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine: he feedeth among the lilies.

I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine: he feedeth among the lilies.

These are excerpts from the Song of Solomon in the Old Testament .There are many interpretations of what the Song of Solomon means. Some have said that it means the love between God and the Nation of Israel, or the relationship between Christ and the Church ,or poetry from the time .

Or is it a love story between King Solomon and The Queen of Sheba or something even deeper or both ?

Once upon a time , long ago , the notoriety of King Solomon's wisdom reached the Queen of Sheba . Being intrigued by his renowned wisdom,

she sought him out to see for herself . Once arriving ,she posed many

riddles to test Solomons intelligence, as was a practice among people of power of that time. She tried to trip him up with as many clever riddles as

she knew . He apparently was able to answer them all.

Sheba : The dead lived, the grave moved, and the dead prayed: what is that?"

Solomon :"The dead that lived and prayed was Jonah; and the fish, the moving grave."

She tried many riddles and Solomon answered them all .How could she not fall in love with him ? And he with her ? She came from so far away , so intrigued by his wisdom and was not "disappointed in his mental prowess"

And he must have been enamoured with her because of her interest in him and such clever riddles to challenge his own wisdom

So a love affair ensues , and a story with a riddle begins .

This story will continue .....

Solomon:

"My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste: So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off. "

"Out of the eater came something to eat.

Out of the strong came something sweet." - Samson

This Sheeba seems to be the rare article - beautiful and intelligent - the Queen Bee, Solomon was hooked!

This is really beautiful PhoenixV. I believe that Song of Solomon is a literal love story. The bible does teach about love and sex, but some people find it 'taboo'. Keep on writing.

I appreciate your efforts for writing such a good article with beautiful photographs. Bees are very useful but very dangerous also. Sometime an attack by Bees may prove fatal. The only way to escape from Bees is to lay down on ground facing surafce and keep motionless till Bees hovers over you. Also cover both the ears with hands. Hope this suggestion may few lives.

Yes bees can be dangerous , especially if youre allergic to them . When stung by a single bee , its best to remain very calm , because they can become agitated . Find the stinger that is left in your body by the bee itself , and remove it quickly . After the bee stings you its stinger stays embeded in your skin and the bee usually dies . Having lost that part of its abdomen . However the stinger is equipped with a muscle that will continue to pump venom into you . This causes a chemical reaction and causes pheremones to be released that alerts other bees . So removing the stinger quickly is essential . If youre allergic seek epinephrine

Yea , once I had thought about it and read it , then kept reading the song of solomon over and over thinking it was possible , I also cant read it without thinking it can be anything other than what I had a suspicion it was about . Ive always loved the bible , ive always loved puzzles and riddles and my dad was a beekeeper , lol

What a wonderful first hub! When I was a kid my mom had the most beautiful flowers in the neighborhood. One street over friends of ours kept bees. I grew up surrounded by honey bees, and spoiled with fresh honey that never saw the inside of a supermarket.

My dad used to have bees . I think he used some kind of centrifigul thing they call a "seperator" to extract the honey from the combs or wax . All i know is I would show up for the end product , which was a jar of honey :) . Local honey is best for allergies as well . He used to say that "royal jelly " which I believe is fed to the youngest bees called "grubs" isnt worth extra money , just the closest bees and honey is best . FYI ; Ive heard that bears are after the grubs and not the honey .

I also wanted to mention I was going to be updating or continuing this story here or on another Hubpage , most likely here . I'm still learning the editing here and recently accidently deleted some text and it took some time to fix it .I cant help but believe from the available information and judging from both Shebas and Solomons personlities and intelligence and feelings for each other that they concocted this hidden riddle as a testimony of who they were and what they meant to each other . So stay tuned !

Bee's, pollination, it naturally follows that there has to be a LOVE story. :) Maybe some birds thrown in for good measure? lol Hurry with the next installment!

Isn't it wonderful that we are the beloved of God. Such a shame that the world has twisted pure physical love in such a way that to think of the deep love of our Creator and Savior in this way is taboo.
