Thank You to all Veterans

The scene is Orle airport in Paris France. The old man of about 85 , slowly shuffles through is papers, looking for his passport, so he can precede thru customs. The aggitated customs officer, looking with disgust at the old man, says, "hurry up, grandpa"

Another older man, with a british accent starts helping the older gentleman. As the two converse in english, the french worker says"How is it that we, in France speak and learn many languages, and all of you Americans, think you only need to speak English?"

The old man glanced up and said Maybe we were to busy to learn..we were making sure you didnt have to speak only in German"

This outraged the proud frenchman, He could see the old man had his passport in hand, but could not resist a final barb at this old guy who had pissed him off.

"Monsieur, have you never been to France before?" he said. The old man quietly nodded and said, "Yes son, I have"

At this the flippant attendant stated.. "Well when ever you come to France, than you must be aware you always need your passport "

The old man looked up thru his tired old eyes, a tear of remberance in them, and said"Young Man, I was last in your country on June 6th, 1944. I was here to liberate your mother and father from the hell of the Nazis.. When I landed at Omaha Beach, I had My passport out, but I couldn't find one God Damn Frenchman to show it to!"

Happy Veterans Day.. Mike the salesman
