Snag a Bamboo tile Placemat at your nearest..

Meijers, or Big Box Store..and you're in!! The assortment of colors run from the "natural color" of Bamboo..similiar to a light pine, black, a russet brown, pale green and a few other shades depending on the Retailer. I suggest sticking to the basic Natural, Black or Brown to keep things simple on your first try. You'll need but one (1) placemat..and they are held together by clear thick plastic line...you simply snip some of the line and pull apart the tiles from the line work. Each one of the "tiles" will have two sets of holes drilled into the tile..making it possible for you to let your imagination run wild as to the types of things you can make with these fabulous tiles!! Bracelets, Necklaces, Pins, and Pendants are just the start...You can go as far as ornaments, and wind chimes if you are in a really Creative Mood!!

You'll notice that the tiles have one flat side..and one side with a slight hump to it..rounded a bit..depending on what you are going to design should determine which side to use..and use it consistently if you're using more than one tile in your project.

Other items needed:

Scissors, assorted stickers, ephemera (papers, music sheets, magazine cutouts, etc) Metallic Pens, Acrylic Paint, preferably in Gold or Silver, ModgePodge, and a clear glaze, available in the same area as the ModgePodge...small adhesive rhinestones that are made now for "bling" effects for your cellphone (I found mine for 3.00 for three large sheets at BigLots, a Discount Big Box Store, closeouts, etc) some small pieces wire, round nose pliers, wire cutters, assorted larger holed beads, Rat tail (satin cording) & or leather strips (cording) ..and anything else you think you might want to include!!

Decide your type of Project, and choose our items you want to apply to your tiles..

Prepare your tiles, by either painting a base color on the tile..or using the natural color. Apply some of the sheetmusic or solid or printed paper and paint on a layer of modgepodge..add sticker and other items and add yet another layer of modge podge, this keeps your stickers from "running" color into other items..it sets it..allow it to dry!!

After you've added all the extra things for decoration, to express yourself, like rhinestones, sequins, etc...put a coating of Glaze Gloss (diamond coat) over the entire tile..or tiles if you glued two or more together to make a broach or part of a larger pendant.

Get out your wire and feed the wire down thru the holes on one side, as you pull it thru the bottom of the tile, add some charms if you'd like, to dangle off the bottom of it, if you choose to make a pendant, etc...and then feed it up thru the other set of holes...tap the wire against a hard surface so it will flatten out the wire at the bottom where the charms are hanging from..so it looks neat and finished! After neatly following that step...take a dowel or a pencil and curl the two pieces of the ends of the wire in a desired design. Personally, I like to give my pendants some character, so I'll add some beads on the top of the two wires that are protruding out the top, then curl them back around so that the rat tail (satin cording) or leather can run thru them nicely!!

After doing the above step...and you've fed thru the item you've chosen ..you may want to either put on a clasp, toggle clasp, or tie it in a slip knot for closure purposes...

And enjoy!! Or, give it away as a really neat, one of a kind OOAK necklace, pendant, bracelet or pin!!

Have some fun!!
