I wonder sometimes why us good women seem to attract Bad Men! To me when I watch Pretty Women and she is lying in bed with Richard Gere and they are talking and she says she is a "bum magnet" and she followed one! Well somehow I seem to be a little in the same boat! I am what I feel a good girl and educated but somehow I just seem to attract the worst men of earth. Ok maybe one or two where not so bad but the last one has just been a huge disaster. He looked all very nice when I met him and being as careful as I normally am, I did do some homework before I agreed to actually see him. When I went to meet him In Grahamstown he appeared that although he was down on his luck he had loads of potential. Good grief, little did I know what was in store for me. I had known him only about a week or more when he arrived at my door one night and said that he needed a place to stay for a day or two while he finished some work in EL. Well being the softy I am and due to the fact it was late I made the huge mistake of letter him stay. He did I must admit help around the house which did make a huge difference however little did I know that whilst I though he was out working he actually was in my home(for want of a better word) stealing whatever he could to sell for booze. One of the stipulation was that I would not tolerate someone who drank and he assured me that he did have a problem long ago but had been rehabilitated. After a couple of days I work up and told him no ways and he had to go......... after much begging and stress he eventually left.

Then one Friday evening he was trying to get hold of me and I did not answer my phone. But he was waiting for me when I arrived home again late at night and once again felt sorry for him and allowed him to spend the night. By that time I had discovered that all the booze I had in the house which wasn't to much was gone and so was a lot of my other things anyhow on the Saturday morning I was home and was tired as I really did not feel like having anyone around however he offered to fix the indicator light on my car. Being on my own I was actually grateful for the assistance. After a While I though gee he has been gone awhile. When I went to go and look both him and my car was missing. I waited and though maybe he had just gone to test drive. At about 3.30pm he arrived back at my place and was soooo drunk, told him to give the me keys to my car which he refused, he got back into the car and drove off. I went inside to phone the police. Whilst I was waiting for them to arrive my oldest son was coming back into Gonubie and phoned me to ask where the golf was going in such a hurry. Told him it had been taken and was waiting for Police to arrive. My son having the temper he has turned his vehicle around and gave chase. Then police arrived I explained the situation and they headed after my son. So now you have a three car chase going on something that only happens in the movies. On an off ramp my son managed to attack another bakkies attention and with his help they managed to stop my car but not before both my sons vehicle and mine had collided. By now there where more police involved. They drove my vehicle back to the Gonubie police station and on the way it actually ran out of fuel. The brought the guy back and locked him up for drunk and driving and told me to keep out of it. I was at the police station and here he was begging me not to lock him up. However I cannot and will not live like that. The policeman told me quite often the lady then feels sorry for the guys and then comes and bails then out. I assured him that in this case it was not an option. Seeing as this happened in November I still to date have been unable to get rid of this guy. He keeps phoning me ect. Then on Tuesday evening he just arrived at my home and with my oldest son also being at home I was rather worried that someone was going to get hurt. My son just want to hurt him badly. So ended up once again having to call on the police. After a long story it seem on of my sons friends gave chase. The bakkie they where chasing was being driven my this guy whilst seriously under the influence of alcohol. He was speeding that he failed to make a bend, hit an embankment nearly killed a couple in an oncoming car and landed off the road in the bush. Needless to say the ran off into the bush and to my knowledge have not been found. The irony of the story is that they had just possible stolen the vehicle from some man who had given them a lift however having alcohol involved on does not know the truth of the story. When I was given a copy of the police file to forward the the insurance wow was i shocked. He has a very shocking criminal record....... need I say more. As of today I still do not know when or where he is going to pop up.

So ladies beware if you are like me, what appears to be a "bum magnet" be careful and afraid - be very afraid as you do not know what they are actually capible of doing. So ladies be warned! Learn from someone else's very hard lesson in life!
