A step by step guide to installing a wordpress blog that can be monitized using Adsense.
67WordPress - ahh, the whole internet will be this simple one day. This is a step by step guide to setting up a WordPress blog that can be monetised with Adsense. Making money with your WordPress blog is an entirely different proposition, but setting one up is easy. Less than 5 minutes start to finish once you have your own domain name registered and hosted. I will keep it to as few steps as possible. I will even set up a WordPress blog solely for the purpose of this article and include some screenshots.
WordPress.com blogs cannot be monetized, (the free ones) so you need to host your own website for this. I use Bluehost and cannot recommend them strongly enough – If you should happen to entirely screw up one of your websites, as I did a few weeks ago, they are well-prepared enough to back up your entire domain on a regular basis and restore it to it’s former glory as needed. The actual WordPress software is free, but you will have to pay a hosting company to host the software on your own domain.
Creating a CMS using Wordpress
- Using WordPress as a CMS
Using wordpress as a content management system
- Buy a domain name. There are dozens of companies that will sell you a domain. I use GoDaddy and have never had a problem with them.
- Set up a hosting account. Because I use Bluehost, I will be using them for this guide. One of the reasons I use them is that they offer automatic installations of platforms such as WordPress and plenty of others.
- Have your domain transferred to your host. This varies from one hosting company to another, so you would need to check their instructions, but it’s just a few mouse clicks. I prefer to do it this way, because some domain name suppliers insist that you host your domain with them forever if you use them, meaning you can never leave. This way you are free to leave anytime you wish.
- Install WordPress onto your domain root using Fantastico Deluxe (an auto installer) I have created a sub domain specifically for this guide and that’s where this is going to be installed. It is a easy as pie. Just click Install, fill in a few details and hit “Install WordPress.
And Voila! The WordPress blog is installed and working. I changed the name as you can see from the screenshot in honor of SunSeven, who requested this hub. I have even added a few Google Adsense advertisements to show just how easy this is. Feel free to visit ! It actually took me longer to write this description than it did to set up the blog.
It is literally that simple to set up a WordPress blog that can be monetized with Adsense. I have set up several myself and there are some links to them at the bottom of this Hub. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them, Just leave them in the comment box at the bottom.

Ah, that's for a whole 'nother hub. Adding the adsense to different locations is a ....little more complex and deserves a hub of it's own. The title of this one is "A step by step guide to installing a wordpress blog that can be monitized using Adsense"
Congratulations on your 100th Hub Mark. And thank you so much for answering my request. I certainly am going to try this. I already have a domain name and a hosting account. Never got around to utilizing it. Always used blogger as wordpress confuses me. Once again, THANK YOU for this guide.

Eh, didn't you miss an important bit? I was looking forward to see an explanation where to put the adsense code in the template so that the ads appear in different locations... SY
