The Creation of the wolfalike dog.
There has been for a few years now in the UK different types of Wolfalike dogs being created. The aim of some to produce a mix of Wolf dogs (like the Czech WolfDog and Saarloos), with those of no wolf content.
Others are breeding true to original conception of a Domestic Dog with NO wolf content. These dogs are bred by using only domestic dog breeds to create the look of a wolf with the temperament of a pet dog.
The main contenders for this type of breed are the Northern Inuit Dog and The British Utonagan. Both of which being unrecognised as yet by the Kennel Club and being new breeds in the creation. The Northern Inuit is well esrablished in so far as type goes and the British Utonagan have still an open registry and are at the moment bringing new lines and traits into their breed gene pool. Both of these breeds started off from the same conception and dogs in the 1980's, and some are quite similar in looks (as you would expect), there are differences however, the Northern Inuit Dog has blue eyes allowed in its breed standard and has back dew claws, somewhat shorter in coat, The British Utonagan has no blue eyes, black white and Timber colours, some of the plusher coat. Both beautiful dogs.
Both breeds started out with a mix of Malamute, German Shepherd and Husky, and the British Utonagan are bringing more Malamute and German Shepherd into their mix, to maintain better straighter tails, smaller ears, longer legs and better bone. The intention to create a Domestic Dog that resembles a Timber Wolf as much as possible without adding any wolf to the Dog. The British Utonagan Association maintain a breeding program that involves all of their Accredited breeders, all working together to acheive this goal. They hold all registrations of the British Utonagan and have an open pedigree data-base for ALL Utonagan owners. They track and report health issues, breeding concerns, geneticist advise to their members and also have a full membership who attend shows, events, and have their own forum where any information on this lovely breed is available.
There is much controvesy that surrounds these dogs as many pedigree owners do not understand why we need a breed for looks and not bred for a specific purpose, well mainly most pedigree dogs are sold now for their looks and not there purpose...these dogs are very adaptable, good workers if asked, they run, do ski-do, rigging, agility, obedience, they love a family life and are quite happy curled up in front of the TV as well as out walking for miles, they suit a lot of peoples lifestyles. People who love wolves just adore these dogs as they counter act the fashion of mixing wolf into our pets, wolves should be left in the wild and domestic dogs should be as such.

HI thanks, no the lass in the picture is my breeder.. thats my girls brother, he is very handsome. The temperaments are about the same British Utonagan breeders are inputting GSD to the British Utonagan to improve on the trainability and recall and to dilute the prey drive that some of them do have. So I forsee the temperament of the British Utonagan being a slight easier to manage in the future. They are both very loving in the home but some can have a high prey drive coming from the Husky and Malamute and some do have same sex aggresion. These are matters that the breeders take into consideration when pairing up the dogs.
Why r they doing this u shouldnt do something like that i find it wrong
What is it you find is wrong?

Great hub! I have heard of the Inuits but not the British Utonagan. What are their differences in terms of temperament?
Is that you and your dog in the pictures? Congratulations on the medal! That is a very beautiful dog. Gotta love those ears - they really remind me of my Sibe's large ears :)
