I get excited about new gadgets and the ACN Iris 3000 video phone was an exceptional find. I have learned a lot about what needs to happen in order for it to work and where it can be used.

The ACN Iris 3000 videophone requires high speed internet of at least 1.5 mps. If you have internet with a speed of at least 1.5 mps (which is true of any high-speed DSL/cable service), your Iris 3000 video phone will work great. To check your internet speed go to www.speedtest.net and follow the prompts.

Once you have determined your internet speed, all that is left to do is to plug one end of a Ethernet cable into your Iris 3000 and the other end into your modem or router. When the Ethernet cable is plugged in, just turn the phone on. It takes about a minute for the phone to power up and connect to the network and after that the phone is ready to use!

A question that is often asked is, "What if I want to put my phone some where in the house that is not close to my modem or router, then what do I do?" For this purpose, ACN sells some video phone links. You can view these at https://shop.myacn.com/storefront/acn-us/acn-us-all-devices/cACN_US-cACN_US_ALL_DEVICES-p1.html?SMODE=1&repId=01868499. They are very easy to install. Just plug an Ethernet cable in the router or modem and then the other end into the video phone link. Once the cable is connected on both ends, just plug the video phone link into the wall electrical outlet. Now where you want to put your ACN video phone you take the other video phone link and plug that one into the electrical outlet. From there you take another Ethernet cable and connect one end into the video phone link and the other into the video phone and you are done! The message will travel from the video phone through the Ethernet cable through the phone links and then through the electrical wires to the other phone link and then out through your high speed internet. The only restriction on the video phone link it that the max distance that the video phone links should be apart is 200 Meters.

Another common question is, "What happens to my other phones when I connect the Video Phone? Do they stop working?" This is a great question and the simple answer is - no they do not stop working. They will ring along with the video phone and you can pick up any handset in the house and talk or you can pick up the video phone. You can even use your existing cordless phones.

This is what you will need to do in order for all of your other phones in the house to work. Once your ACN Iris 3000 video phone is connected, connect one end of a regular phone cable to the video phone and connect the other end to the standard telephone wall jack. Once the phone cable is connected the signal will travel through the video phone and then route all of the information throughout your home in your existing phone lines.

Now all of your phones in the house will work as normal. You can receive calls from your existing phones as well as dial out as well as use your ACN video phone whenever you like!

I hope you found this helpful! You can buy a video phone from www.buy-video-phones.com
