Producer artist and hip hop icon Khanye West has always had a unique sense of style. It’s no surprise that his new shoe line the Air Yeezys and Khanye West Louis Vuitton would create a huge buzz in the urban fashion world

Since their much anticipated release they have become the most talked about easily spotted and hottest model of sneakers in 2009. Also known as the Louis Vuitton Don it came as no surprise when he followed up the successful Nike Air Yeezy’s with the very stylish but still “hip and urban” designer shoe/sneaker the Khanye West Louis Vuittons.

Named by and after the man himself the Air Yeezy’s have become very popular. The shoe itself is like taking a walk back in time as a lot of the inspiration for the shoe came from the former retro sneakers such as the Nike air revolution and air Jordon with a flight 89 like sole. The shoe still has its own signature unique design like the Velcro strap and oversized tongue to fit the high top design. With all that put into it, the shoe still not over done.

The air Yeezy’s take their unique comfort and style from being inspired by both fashion and sports. The design of the shoe began with sketches that were pulled from sample references of Nike’s rich design history of basketball shoe’s and other sportswear styles that’s how the shoe took shape. There was a careful balance of old and new fashion elements put into the unique shoe which makes it retro with a “futuristic” appeal.

Nike always makes sure their shoe’s need to function and always be innovative but Khanye was very much involved in the design process. “I’ve been designing Nike’s in my sketch pad since the fourth grade,” said khanye “So to say I’ve been prepared for this would be an understatement.” He did also mention that the whole design process was not easy a lot is involved. He called it a fun but challenging process putting everything together the fabrics, colors down to the tiny little details for a shoe of such incredible quality.

After a series of design sessions the ultimate test is when the design meets the athlete’s movement. Khanye wore the shoe while performing to test it out and identify how they could make it better. This way he could provide very critical and honest feedback. Since then the shoe was launched April 09 and has been a great success one small step for Yeezy one giant leap for sneaker kind.
