AK Governor Sarah Palin's Accomplishments
76November 30, 2009 Synopsis of Governor Palin's Accomplishments
Governor Palin's accomplishments over the past two months distill to four core areas: book tour, media Interviews, commercial speaking engagements, and communicating with us via Facebook Notes and Tweets.
Going Rogue Book Tour
Going Rogue: An American Life was released on Tuesday, November 17, 2009. The book had already earned number one positions in pre-order sales at both Amazon and Barnes & Noble. The tour began on Wednesday, November 18 in Grand Rapids, MI -- the state for which McCain campaign aides said Governor Palin was "going rogue" when she issued a statement that she wanted to continue campaigning there -- and the basis of the book's title. The tour moved east, then south, stopping for Thanksgiving and is now underway once more. The book tour will stop in the western half of the United States, with a brief return east and conclude on December 10. Retail sales of Going Rogue exceeded 700,000 during the first week of the tour. For those unable to make a signing for whatever reason, a $100 donation to either SarahPAC or the Republican Governors Association will earn you a signed copy -- a sweet deal, considering that people are spending $500 or more to travel to signing events.
Media Interviews
Concomitant with the book tour, Governor Palin conducted interviews with Oprah Winfrey, Barbara Walters, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Greta Van Susteren, Eddie Burke, among others.
Commercial Speaking Engagements
Governor Palin addressed the Wisconsin Right to Life group on November 6, 2009. She will be speaking to student at the College of the Ozarks on citizenship, involvement and patriotism on December 2, 2009; the Salina, KS Chamber of Commerce on February 5, 2010, the National Tea Party Convention on February 6, 2010, and a Sierra Cascade Logging Conference on February 8, 2010. These are Washington Speakers Bureau speeches, which means there is a prohibition on media coverage and recording of the content for dissemination. Professional reporters and some bloggers have attached a negative connotation to this prohibition, but these are commercial, copyrighted speeches, and re-broadcasting them diminishes the value of them.
Facebook and Twitter
Governor Palin has published Facebook Notes on health care, energy independence, and national security during these past two months. One item, "Drill" was published in National Review. Governor Palin now has well over 1 million supporters on Facebook; her new Twitter account SarahPalinUSA has nearly 32,000 followers. Her old Twitter account, AKGovSarahPalin was decommissioned. This author has archived Tweets from that account.

September 25, 2009 Synopsis of Governor Palin's Accomplishments
Governor Palin just returned from her first commercial speaking
engagement in Hong Kong, delivering a 90-minute address that wowed
friends and enemies alike. The speech covered government intervention
in the economy, health care, China, terrorism, foreign policy, and
investment in Alaska.
Governor Palin exclusively retained the elite Washington Speakers Bureau to manage her speaking engagements.
Governor
Palin donated a dinner with herself to Ride 2 Recovery, which will be
using 100% of the proceeds to benefit wounded warriors. Defense
contractor Cathy Maples won the dinner with a $63,500 bid. Ms. Maples
wants to see Governor Palin be President in 2012.
Her son, Track returned home from a year-long deployment in Iraq.
Governor
Palin continued defining the health care debate with her Facebook
postings on the subject. Obama's health care bill does not enjoy
popular support and she has him on the defensive.
Another
significant Facebook posting addressed the Associated Press' use of a
slain soldier's image in news coverage against the grieving family's
wishes.
In yet another significant Facebook posting, Governor
Palin expressed her support of Glenn Beck and secured major viewership
of his series on the Obama administration.
Though not physically
present at the September 12 Tea Parties, Governor Palin's image and
likeness dominated the events, and a 12-year-old girl inspired by her
spoke at one of these gatherings.
An ethics complaint against Governor Palin's former communications director was dismissed.

August 19, 2009 Synopsis of Governor Palin's Accomplishments
Governor Palin caused the removal of two particularly onerous aspects of HR 3200, Obama's proposed health care bill via two words -- "death panel" -- in a FaceBook posting. Her posts, which were fully cited and referenced ignited a firestorm of public protest against the bill, which is ongoing. The removed provision includes "end-of-life" counseling, and quite likely the "public option" will be removed.
When she left office, Governor Palin said, "I will be able to fight even harder for you – for what is right and for the truth. And I have never felt that you need a title to do that." True to those words, Governor Palin accomplished this feat as a private citizen, having been out of office nary two weeks. Using FaceBook, she bypassed the mainstream media and got her message out unfiltered, awaking an otherwise apathetic public.
When she left office, Governor Palin had around 550,000 supporters on FaceBook. As of this writing, the number of supporters stands at 799,287 -- just shy of 800,000. Her former gubernatorial Twitter Page is still gaining followers and as of this writing has 138,045. No date has been set for when this page will transition to a new name and Tweeting will resume.
Governor Palin received five awards at the National Rifle Association's XVIII Gun Collectors Seminar in Anchorage for defending our Second Amendment rights. The most significant of these awards is a Benefactor Membership in the NRA, which is a $5,000 addition to the Life Membership, which as of this writing is $1,000 (The NRA has an Easy Pay option, where the membership is paid off in quarterly installments over 10 years). The second award -- a Gold Medal of Merit for the Promotion of Gun Collecting had not been awarded to anyone in 10 years. The remaining three awards were life memberships at gun collector groups in Missouri, Ohio, and Texas.
Various media reports stated that Governor Palin briefly visited New York City to meet with Harper Collins regarding her book deal. While the trip itself is not an accomplishment, the book deal most definitely is. Governor Palin's autobiography is expected to be released in the spring of 2010.
