ALTO REVIEW - THE MOST SOLD CAR IN INDIA

Alto is the most sold hatchback car in India,which amounts to some figures rounded near 20000 ,on an average every month.

Alto's key feature is its fuel efficiency(around 17km/l) & low maintenance cost.The company claims around 17.6 km/l.Some have reported to get about 19km/l for daily use.On an average:

city mileage:15km/l

highway:20km/l

The spareparts of alto are cheaper compared to other cars in the same domain..The engine capacity is 796cc.Alto is available in three variants,viz STD,LX & LXi

LXi model is equipped with both a/c and power steering while LX possess just AC.The standard model doesn't have any of these options.

Various colours available.:

CARRIBEAN BLUE(new), WINE RED(new) , SUPERIOR WHITE , BRILLIANT YELLOW , PEARL SILVER , SILKY SILVER , MIDNIGHT BLACK , BRIGHT RED.Out of these all colours except white and bright red are metallic which costs an extra amount of Rs.3000/-.

Alto's AC need to be mentioned.IT has got a powerful AC.But a notable factor is the reduction in poer & mileage for alto while driving with it's AC ON.Mileage reduces by 2km/l on an average on AC.

Additinal accessories like wheel cups, body graphics ,zen-type mirrors,stereo system,mats,sunglasses etc costs a little more but adds to the beauty of the car. Body colored spoilers are available for around Rs.8000.

Power window may be fitted for front 2 doors as an option which costs around rs.6000/- + service charges. Body coloured bumpers are also optional for alto which needs Rs.3000/- extra.Fog lamps are also optional.

On the basic purchase you get only one side view mirror (on the driver side), the other one has to be payed for seperately.

a few negatives:

the vehicle doesn't live upto its 800cc horsepower mentioned. On Indian roads, while overtaking it can seem to not be "pulling" enough.

The interiors are nothing special to mention.

This car is the most sold in India for A REASON. Its refreshing, practical and the new model is quite appealing as well. Its got oodles of style compared to the 800, . The Alto stands neck to neck with other cars in the segment. You'll be getting your moneys worth with this purchase.

Another plus (as with any maruti) is the sheer number of service stations availabel all over India. you wont be looking far for service.
