AMC's Breaking Bad
58Breaking Bad an Excellent New Series on AMC
Yes it is starting already. No writers means no good television, or at least a lot less of it. I am an animal lover (obviously) so I don't mind seeing the animal experts bringing on their wild animals to my favorite late night shows. Whenever you have a talk show host holding down an alligator on top of his desk quivering in fear you know that's good tv.
But with my options definitely lessened due to the writer's strike, I mistakenly stumbled upon an interesting and innovative new series on AMC. And yes I said AMC, you may not know but they have already made an innovative series called Mad Men which has won a few awards for its first season. Mad Men focuses on advertising agencies of a few decades ago, a time when social drinking at work was normal, divorce was taboo, and cigarettes weren't bad for you yet.
Breaking Bad isn't quite the same demographic as Mad Men despite starring well known actor Bryan Cranston who is known as the father in the show Malcolm in the Middle. Cranston plays Walter White, a chemistry teacher who has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Seeing his situation as desperate and not wanting to leave behind his one child and pregnant wife with nothing White puts his chemistry knowledge to work. White is reunited with a former student in a somewhat convoluted plot twist that would take a few boring paragraphs to explain, but basically White offers to his former student to become his new "cook" for his crystal meth business as his former "cook" has been arrested.
I don't want to spoil anything for you but let's just say it doesn't take long for things to get very interesting and I suggest you tune in Sunday night as there isn't much quality tv out there at all anymore. This might be the best show of the year if this writer's strike continues for much longer.
