How about using some extensive photoshop techniques, you show us what it DID look like in the 60s? That would be far out.

The pictures of Haight-Ashbury are amazing! We were in San Francisco about a month ago... Your pictures brings back lots of fond memories of the city and Haight-Ashbury... I always love San Francisco!

Hey Ralph, Don't know if you will ever read this, but what time/month of the year were these taken???... The streets look a little bare from the time I was there last summer.
The pictures were taken around 8am October 1 or 2, 2006.
haight-ahbury is filled with a bunch of crack, speed, and dope heads....you better watch your back in the haight

The weather was just perfect when we were in San Francisco last October. God, I miss the Ethiopian and Mexican food at Haight-Ashbury.

thanks for your visual documentation. i live in a far country (Bangladesh), but i have mental affiliation with haight. i feel for it. it showed us way to freedom in the truest sense ... i salute all we live and died haight ... i salute the romanticism ... your contribution means a lot for many, love for all ...

yes i am doing a project in my class on haight ashbury in the 1960s and i dont think you have any from there, anyways i was wondering if you can put the pics up from back then and email me when you do thank you verymuch

Seems we have more in common than I would have imagined...used to be Dock Trash up in Put-in_Bay, and have sailed a time or two myself on Lake Erie.
Looking at your photographs of Haight Ashbury I am reminded of my own time in the fine city of San Francisco as a bike messenger, and the work I did on many of the beautiful Victorians that can be found on Haight Street. Yes, it has changed a bit, more sterile perhaps than it was, and more graffiti, and yet the over all feel is still much the same as my memory recalls.
I returned to San Francisco myself in the early 90's and was dissappointed at the sterile Yuppized rendition of those heady days that made the city by the bay so famous, yet that was to be expected after they took a bulldozer to Winterland in the name of progress...at least I was fortunate enough to attend the Grateful Dead's farewell performance for that landmark.
Thanks for your comment. I live in the Detroit area but have three kids in the Bay area and get out their several times a year. I'd like to move there but the housing is so expensive compared to where I live.
