APPLE A DAY KEEPS THE DOCTOR AWAY

Just how true is this old chestnut? An apple a day surely wouldn’t hurt, but how much good do they actually do?

Far from being some exotic fruit from the depths of a hidden rain forest, the apple is a simple humble fruit. Though under it’s humble exterior it packs quite a health punch.

The health benefits from apples can be gained from; eating them whole, drinking the juice, or drinking apple cider.

Fight Cancer

  • Japanese scientists have found that the small apples many apple farmers throw away, are packed full of antioxidants, containing three times the amount of the antioxidant polyphenols than larger mature apples. These specific antioxidants encourage the production of natural-killer cells within the body, the cells that target cancer cells.

Prevent Diabetes, Lower Cholesterol, Pep You Up

  • The sugar in apples, fructose, does not raise the bodies blood sugar, making it an effective food in preventing diabetes.
  • Apples can reduce the level of bad Cholesterol in the body, and boost good cholesterol levels.
  • When you want a pick me up reach for an apple, the citric acid can help the body recover from fatigue.

Help Digestion, Healthy Liver, Fix Gallstones, Treat Alzheimer's and Parkinsons...

  • Apples react with gastric juices helping with intestinal disorders.
  • Also the malic acid found in apples is beneficial for liver related illnesses such as gallstones. The acid can act as a natural solvent for some gallstones, as well as helping produce healthy bile for digestion.
  • Information coming out of Cornell University in New York, reports that a chemical compound contained in apples called quercetin can protect brian cells from diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. And further still quercetin may even aid in the prevention of prostate cancer in men. And help with the prevention of lung disease such as asthma, emphysema and bronchitis.
