There is virtually no doubt that ASHA SACHDEV has strongly believed in living life on her own terms ever since she first stepped out of her home to join the FTII in Poona. Looking back ASHA SACHDEV fondly goes into flashback mode as she reveals that even though she was quite plump when in the first year at the Institute yet she stood apart as she was far more bold and sophisticated than the other girls in her batch.

So while she did get along like a house on fire with her male collegues she was always facing flak from the females who felt she was actually a fake and her 'chalu'behaviour was meant to get favours from the men. That was the reason that even while she was in her first year she got noticed by producers from Bollywood who would scout the FTII looking for fresh talent to launch in their films.

No sooner was she out with her degree and back in Mumbai that she found all those lofty promises she had been living on vanished in thin air and she had to start making her presence felt -all over again.

That was not only disillusioning for her but also the first bitter lesson she learnt about Hindi films.'Never take anything at face value because what appears on the surface is not always what it actually is!!!' So even though the charming smile was all warm and dazzling yet she was no longer a novice. She had grown up as Bollywood had raped her innocence forcing her to become street smart and hard as nails inside even though she played coy on the outside.

While all her batchmates had signed and sealed offers even before they graduated from the institute ASHA SACHDEV left FTII with just hollow offers and little else. So instead of sitting at home and waiting for producers to break down her doors she started to accept what came her way.Thus began the journey in which ASHA SACHDEV started out doing meaty roles in films that nobody got to see and tiny role in big banner films that everone saw but eventually missed her presence.

That however all changed overnight when two rather small and unheard films like Agent Vinod and Bindiya Aur Bandook hit the jackpot at the box-office and sure enough ASHA SACHDEV had arrived. Suddenly she was being flooded with offers and she found it virtually impossible to figure out what to grab and what to drop.

The arrival of 'Woh Main Nahin' put her on the success path that has kept her travelling in Bollywood for the past  38 years that has had her see life's high in terms of her career and terrible lows in terms of her personal life that was full of pain, misery and sorrow as she lost the love of her life in a swimming accident on Juhu Beach shortly before she was to tie the marital knot. Her personal life was never the same even as she went from one height of success to another in her career.

Even though ASHA SACHDEV never showed her pain and sorrow to the world and continued to be a voluptous Sex-Bomb in Bollywood yet any one who knew her real well would vouch that it was almost like two different people were residing in the same body. The person who left the 18th floor of Sunset Heights in Pali Hill as the star was almost unrecognisable to the person who resided in the lavish apartment. Not only was ASHA SACHDEV in silent mourning for several years but she even chose to wear wite in her private life. It took her a real long time to get over her loss and gather a semblance of normalcy.

Altough nothing could get her to go in for marriage yet her close friends from the Institute were always around to provide her moral support and that's what saw her come to terms with the pain in her life. Almost four decades into Bollywood and today ASHA SACHDEV is actually looked upon as an artiste who has dedicated her entire life to Indian Cinema who still refuses to hang up her Sandals and pull down her shutter to close shop as she insits that she wants to die with grease paint on while giving a shot. Truly signs of an absolutely dedicated Actress!!!
