"ATLAS SHRUGGED" IS IT TIME FOR A REVOLUTION?
69As painful as it may be for "we the people", maybe it is time for small business owners, corporations, employers to pull out. Maybe it is time for those that make our economy work to let go, throw us to the liberal wolves who want us to believe that the government is the end all be all, the answer to our own short comings. Without visionaries, creators of jobs who will pay the governments bills? I know most of us don't. There is greed at both the top & the bottom. At the bottom people are looking for handouts from the working class (the liberals call it the rich, that is a misnomer) There is no appreciation of the opportunities we all have, no one appears to want to work for their success. There are no easy solutions, there is no Messiah to rescue us from ourselves. We make our choices, we have to live with them. The government can't save us from ourselves, only we can do that. Then there are those who have made it to the top that think they deserve more than the rest of us. They use their power to steal, they have an overblown ego they take excessive golden parachutes, they think we are stupid, because we are honest, work hard, we trust; thus they believe we deserve to be screwed. These takers manipulate the system to their advantage. Look at Fannie Mae & Freddy Mac, Franklin Raines, Chris Dodd, Barack Obama, ACORN Enron, Worldcom, Lehmann Bros. AIG, Bear Sterns, & others. Including politicians from both parties. We can't let them win. They must be held accountable. They think we are sheep to be led off the cliff. They believe we will just roll over & wet on ourselves and accept the "cake" crumbs they send our way. I don't want big government. I don't want the government telling me what health care I can pursue. I want the constitution of the United States & the Bill of Rights to continue to be the deciding documents for "life", "liberty" & "the pursuit of happiness", not a socialist, Marxist, communist government. I want my grandchildren to grow up free, with opportunities. I want them to be able to choose their own destiny. Barack Obama is a threat to the American way. Maybe it is time for America to experience an Exodus of those who make our country work. Fighting the enemy head on doesn't seem to work. Facts don't count. Hatred and emotion rules over reason. Maybe experiencing what the third world countries experience would give us a better handle on the concept of freedom & personal responsibility. I hope that we aren't to this point. I've followed politics since I first saw President Eisenhower on our black & white T.V. back in the mid-1950's. When I was in Junior High I passed out political pamphlets & buttons. I have been involved for over 50 years. I have never been more concerned for the future of our great country than I am now. I am concerned for the future of my children & grandchildren. I'm not looking for a Messiah. JFK said, ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. JFK cut taxes. It's time to put our hands back in our pockets, time to do whats right for our country. In my opinion it isn't bigger government, more welfare, more taxes, fewer jobs, fewer opportunities, more government involvement in our personal lives, beliefs, choices. I don't want to worry about being P.C. If I open mouth & insert foot, so what. I am human, I am not perfect, I am not a robot. I don't want to rule the world, I just want to enjoy my small portion of it. I'm not looking for government guarantees, I just want to be me, the best me I can be. If it doesn't meet your measure of success, I really don't care as long as I am content with my life. If it is to be it is up to me not the government. That's the way I want it.

I do love the American way, I just don't like the excess of some who think they are more worthy than others. After we bailed them out, they continued to show their arrogance. I think that could more accurately be expressed as an "up ours".
I thought this article was based on Ayn Rand's book "Atlas Shrugged" Anyway total deregulation of stock markets was partly responsible for this mess. You are right the govt should not be too involved in business and have it's restrictions but there has to be a watch dog that oversees whether these businesses are not taking the ordinary consumer/investor for a ride. An appropriate balance is the key.
What country women says is absolutely right.Too much greed is the main reason
I do believe it is time for the producers of this country to go "on strike". I believe that might persuade our "representatives to start representing us. Of course, not all businesses would cooperate, but employees of those companies could get involved by "calling in sick". I am trying to turn this idea into a movement. I suppose you already knowabout the AIG officials who went on vacation right after the Bailiut Bill was passed. They spent 440,000 doillars for a week long vacation spa retreat. You just gotta love the American Way.
