The North American carrier AT&T announced today that will sell the new third generation iPhone without subscription. For this, the interested users will have to pay $400 above the price set for the versions with contract.

So, instead of paying 199 or 299 U.S. dollars by the 8 and 16 GB models, respectively, and become prisoners of a loyalty for a period of two years, consumers can pay 599 or 699 dollars, depending on the model, and use the equipment without any kind of contractual obligation.

In any case, the equipment will be locked to the network, so only working with AT&T.

This strategy will also be used in Europe by Vodafone Italy. The operator announced on its website that will sell the iPhone without subscription and moves the prices to 499 euros for the version of 8GB and 569 euros for the release of 16 GB.
