Abandoned Animals
What happens in Portugal:
I dedicate lots of hours every week in these social activities: rescue, care and finding an adopter, especially for dogs,
which is my favorite area and where I know I can have my best performance.
I feel for the animals on the street and I cant understand how the politicians (animals don't vote) don't do a thing about this! Also the lack of culture and habits of the Portuguese are hard to change and they still watch animals as a working tool.
This year the circus were forbidden to have wild animals on their acts, OK, that's a step, but we still have a long way to go to solve this problem. Animal cruelty (for food), animals on the street, hunting and bullfights.
Everyday animals are hit on the streets, they bite people and spread diseases. That's not their fault, its just the way they are and I love them that way!
Abandoned Animal - Dog
In the association I do my volunteer work we get almost no funds to pay for food, vaccination, chip, dog hotels and vets. Like my association, many others in Portugal are alike.
Also there is a big lack of communication between associations, they are all over the country but they are competitive between themselves so they just watch for their backs instead of giving hands for the same cause.
In this in mind I created a website that has the contacts of almost every animal association in Portugal so people can find it more easily. I called it: Associações de Animais
Please remember to love your animals and help the others!
