Abeka Books - 3 Tips and Tricks to Saving Time and Money with Abeka
56
Abeka books is the part of Abeka where parents can purchase homeschool textbooks and materials either in a kit or individually.
All materials and subjects are Bible based. The kit provides all the materials needed in either the parent kit or child kit. The child kit contains readers, textbooks, workbooks, and any charts or materials needed for that grade. The parent kit includes teacher manuals for each grade, charts or games if used, tests and keys.
If you purchase a kit they are 10% off the cost of buying everything separately. Some parents just get the student kit to save money. They spend their time putting together a teacher manual or lesson plans in order to be able to spend less for curriculum. Ebay no longer allows you to sell teacher manuals, but there are ways to find them and sell them used on eBay and other sources.
You can buy Abeka books used, but many years Abeka changes their books so that workbooks and textbooks do not match up anymore. Some parents buy all the workbooks for all their children the first year so that they have them when they need them.
All orders are shipped through United Parcel Service with a 12% shipping cost. You can pay with money order, Visa, Mastercard or Discover. If you use a credit card with cash back, you can get even more of a discount on your curriculum.
As with any curriculum, there are positives and negatives to using Abeka Books. Some parents love the repetition, lesson plans, and textbook approach. Other parents get burned out easily trying to follow the curriculum and having their children do all the busy work.
