How To Choose A Dog That Can Be Easily Trained
When you are looking for a new dog you obviously want to find one that will be a good friend for you, but you likely want one that can be easily trained. When you are trying to train a dog whether it's a Border Collie or a German Coolies that can be easily trained, it will make your job more simple when you are house breaking it and teaching it simple manners. While a dog that is more "difficult" can pose some difficulties in training, they can be trained by someone who is experienced in dog handing. But, if you are just getting started with dog training, you should find one that can be trained easily. When searching for this type of dog, there are a few things that you will want to look for in character, breed and age.
Personality
Even experienced trainers will tell you that a calmer, more relaxed dog is easier to train. True, it may be easier to hold this type of dog's attention, an exuberant, hyper dog can also be easy to train if you have some patience. The key is to take home a dog that will bond with you. When you bond with a dog and that dog is constantly all over you because it loves and respects you, it will joyfully do even very hard things that you ask. A dog that loves its owner is the very easiest to train, regardless of whether it is excitable or placid, submissive or dominant. A submissive dog will usually cause fewer hardships in training than a dominant one will. To check if your dog is submissive, stare at him or her in the eyes. If the puppy looks away before you do, that shows submission. With miniature dogs and puppies, hold the dog and turn it over so that its belly is exposed. A submissive dog will just remain that way. A dominant dog will oppose you, trying to turn over.

Breed
Your choice of breeds is huge - Chodsky pes and Westphalian Dachsbracke and Hygenhund and McNab to name a few. Different breeds are known for their trainability. Labs and goldens are popular because they are so simple to train. However, the bully breeds are very intelligent and will become your best friend. This includes American bulldogs, pit bulls and English bulldogs. Corgis, Australian shepherds, German shepherds and Dobermans are dogs that are usually easy to train. Terriers and notorious for being stubborn, but they can be taught and they can learn new skills quickly, especially if they see that they will benefit such as offering them a treat. Mixed breed dogs can also make the very best pets that are easy to train.
Age
The old truism is that you can't teach an old dog a new trick and many people believe that adult dogs can't be trained, but that is not true at all. Many adult dogs learn even faster than puppies. Adult dogs often have a better attention span than puppies and they are more settled. Adult dogs often make great pets and can prove to be very easy to train so you might consider checking out an animal shelter. When you choose a dog, look for one that resonates with you. If you find a dog that you can bond with, it will make make training a breeze.

Great tips! Welcome, Starscream!
Although adult dogs can also be taught but the short life of dogs make it very difficult to let go of them. If I could ask God one boon I would ask HIM to increase the life span of this most wonderful loving devoted friend to humans.
Thank you for your time. I never had a dog, but I will buy one real soon. I love the little ones :D
Really liked your personality tips. I started out with a really difficult breed - Shiba Inu. He really taught me a lot and forced me to learn things quickly and do a lot of research. However, if I had to do it over I would probably get a less difficult breed. :)
Dogs are great though. They make life so much more fun and happy. What breed are you thinking for getting?
I like very much bichons, they are little and sweet... But I haven't decided yet!
This is actually a very helpful Hub! Great idea... My family hasn't had much luck in finding trainable dogs :) Personality is such a big part!
Great hub, love the pic of the dog :)
Thanks for coming by!

Great guidelines for new dog owners! I've always been a dalmation owner. They're difficult to train (or should I say, easy to train, but difficult to get them to do it because they have a different agenda!). Still, there love and loyalty is unsurpassed. You're right: Newbies should start with the easier breeds. Thanks for the great hub.
