About George Bush and a pair of shoes!
62
We all saw it, the whole world watched the scene of president Bush avoiding the pair of shoes being played over and over on TV. Soon after the incident, hundreds of jokes and email messages and animated Gifs about it in the Arab world and all over the world.
So Why it's important?
It's a fact that Bush (like any other president) had experienced similar conditions even in the U.S in some states he visited, people threw tomatoes and spoiled eggs at him sometime, freedom of speech :)

During the next few days thousands of protesters in Iraq demanded the release of the local TV reporter Muntadar Al-Zaidi and some even called him a hero.
This might have shown how much the Iraqis are fed up with U.S policies in Iraq and in the middle east. A fan page was created on facebook with about 15,000 fans/supporters of Montada Al-Zaidi.
Large numbers of Iraqis and Arabs supports Montadar and think he's a hero, and demands his release from the Iraqi government. While others see that this act wasn't appropriate for this was a press conference and not a fight in the street, and he could have expressed his opinion in another way.
Muntadar's supporters and arab journalists and human right watchers fear that he will be tortoured in prison which in common in Iraq.

I totally disagree with Bush's policies and actions across the board, however, I don't think that throwing a shoe at him accomplished anything. It was disrespectful and it had no effect on the current situation whatsoever. I am Arab, I understand the frustration, but throwing a shoe at a President (who, if I may mention, leads a country full of people harboring anti-Arab sentiment) was a bad choice.
of course it was a bad idea, specially when you know he'll be treated like shit
this just showed how disappoitnting are US policies to arabs
thnx for stopping by guys :)

Mezo- I personally feel George Bush wasn't justified to invade Iraq. But having said that I feel this shoe attack is an insult to the position of the President of US which I don't like. Thanks for a timely hub.
