About South Beach Diet

There is an adage in English that says: "Health is wealth". So it is needless to say that a sound health is the key to a sound life. But our undisciplined food habit is posing a great threat to this very "wealth". Consequently which results in physical imbalance and as a result we get more prone to cardio-vascular diseases. The necessity of maintaining a balanced diet is quite indispensable therefore. In this case, Dr. Arthur Agatston MD, a renowned cardiologist has been a pioneer with his revolutionary "South Beach Diet". Sounds bizarre? Well, it's a diet which is in fact a three phase system!

The first phase is all about a ban on bad carbohydrates. Now we got to know what do we mean by bad carbohydrates. Carbohydrates with high Glycemic Index (GI) are bad carbohydrates because they actually enhance our appetite which leads us to obesity as well as a peak in our blood sugar level. Just learning up to this, you must have frowned, if you are an epicure! But wait! I am not done. There's one thing only for you dude! You need not worry about calories. In fact you will enjoy you normal sized meals three times a day with two snacks as well. So you won't have to sacrifice any mouth-watering dishes but you'll certainly lose your weight!

After the introductory phase you will find that you don't feel any crave for the foods with full of carbohydrates. But still, from the third week you can add some items that provide a low amount of carbohydrates. Different kinds of fruits and grains are these types of foods. You have to continue this phase until you get the desired level of low weight. Then comes maintenance phase where you have to carry on your balanced diet hereafter. So, try this balanced diet and say "three cheers" to a healthy life.
