One increasingly popular diet that's catching on amongst both men and women is the ‘Abs Diet'. The popular fitness magazine, ‘Men's Health' is a strong supporter of this diet program as it's been designed by the editor-in-chief himself, David Zinczenko.

Does this diet really live up to its promises?

The basic principle that the diet takes is one of total health, helping you learn the basics of what it means to eat well and incorporate daily physical activity into your life. Because of this fact, that alone sets it apart from many of the fad diets out there that have you starving you ‘fat' away, when in all reality all you are doing is losing water and likely muscle mass.

A more common sense approach to dieting, while it may take slightly longer, is usually always going to derive better benefits and results.

Not only will you focus on weight loss while doing this diet plan, but you'll also keep overall health in mind, helping to prevent diseases and keep your body in top working order.

So, what does the diet consist of?

The Abs Diet utilizes a ‘Bully's Eye' type of set-up, dividing food selections on those that should be eaten as often as possible, known as the ‘Power 12', those that should be eaten often, those that should be eaten occasionally, and finally, those that should rarely be consumed.

Here's what's included in each category:

So, by focusing your meals around these foods according to the frequency you should be eating, you should automatically be consuming a more health-appropriate diet that is geared towards fat loss. One of the very nice things about this approach is that it doesn't necessarily eliminate any of the major food groups, therefore you won't feel all that restricted while consuming it.

For those of you out there who have trouble with diets because it feels like you must cut out carbs or red meat, or whatever it is you enjoy, this diet program will likely be a terrific option.

Another advantage of this diet program is that it will be applicable to those who are participating in very intense physical activity. Other diets, especially ones that take your carbohydrate intake very low can be problematic in this regard, so if you're a high level athlete looking to lose a few pounds, you would do very well adopting the eating habits presented in the Abs Diet.

So, if you're looking for a well rounded, healthy approach to weight loss that will ensure the weight stays off, I'd highly recommend looking into the Abs Diet.
